Review: Cyberpunk Apartment from Funwhole …

cyberpunk neon city apartment

I received the Cyberpunk Apartment building set from FUNWHOLE for this review. Opinions of the build and the set are 100% my own.

To start off, I am super impressed with how much FUNWHOLE has innovated since my last build for them. A couple years back I built a rotating winter candy house that we can display for Christmas. At that time FUNWHOLE did not have the specialized bricks for running wires that they do now. These new bricks make a huge difference in the builds. You can get your own Cyberpunk Apartment on the FUNWHOLE store on Amazon.

Running the wires for all the lighting effects is very important and now it is easier than ever.

new exclusive bricks

I was so excited to see these new features and it made all the difference in building the apartment.

FUNWHOLE has always been good about how they incorporate lighting effects into their products having one central spot for power and then being able to light over levels of build seamlessly is incredible. This build has so many lighting effects that I cannot even count them all without missing any. Each time I think I have them all I find something else down to the eeries blue lighting coming from the sewers. That is a great detail.

The build took me several days. There were 11 numbered sets of bags to use and that doesn’t even include the bag of specialized parts and the other bag for larger parts and the box of lighting pieces. The giant full colored booklet that came with this set made building so easy. FUNWHOLE has definitely improved on that feature, too. They even included a legend for colors because there are some bricks that are close in shade but the legend makes it better for the builder to get the right parts on the first try. I’ve done builds where I used the wrong piece and 18 steps later I had to pull everything apart to get that piece back. I did not have to do that with this build.

The chicken store

The set is over 2500 pieces and like I said, took me several days to build. I got hours of enjoyment out of this build and seeing the final product fully assembled was impressive, especially after powering on the lights. From neon lights around the edges of the building to the multicolor flashing neon signs hanging around the walls this was very cool to see.

Then you also have more subtle lighting that works inside of rooms and workshops that can be found in the build. There is even a rotating motorcycle/prosthetics workshop that is light up even as it rotates. The building also has spots on the left and right bottom sides where you can connect additional sets together and power them, too. That is a great feature and FUNWHOLE has a bunch of other modular sets that can be added to this one.

connect another set

One thing that you may notice with a FUNWHOLE build is that there are no stickers and that be beause each special brick is printed with the design on it already. I love this feature!

Included in the set are a bunch of figures and in the build booklet they have their own profiles and bios. Some are just citizens going about there day but some have deeper secrets and a more rich backstory.

The doctor

The Cyberpunk line is expanding, too and there is one other set that you can get now and that is a cyberpunk style police car, it would make a great addition to this set.

workshops

FUNWHOLE has a bunch of other lines including Steampunk and Town Life. They are planning to launch over 80 new products this year for those lines. Add this to their already extensive catalog and you will be building for a good long time. The sets are also reasonably priced. This 2500 brick set retails for $169. They are always doing great sales, too.

Magnum Meets Playmobil

Playmobil sent me their latest retro toy, the Magnum, p.i. Ferrari 308 GTS Quattrovalvole playset to review. Playmobil has been doing a great job making different sets for many of the classic shows that I’ve enjoyed in my childhood. Most of the shows have iconic vehicles in them like K.I.T.T. from Knight Rider and the A-Team van. Magnum, p.i.’s Ferrari 308 GTS Quattrovalvole is also quite iconic. Who from my generation can still see that car cruising around Hawaii as Magnum got up to his antics. This show ran from 1980 to 1988 and I was 6 when the show debuted. That is probably why I never got into watching it. I probably would have enjoyed it because I liked so many other shows of that genre at that time.

Despite not watching the show I do know much about it and was excited that Playmobil made this playset. The iconic Ferrari 308 GTS Quattrovalvole from the classic 80s TV crime series Magnum, p.i. Set also includes the main characters from the series: Thomas Magnum, T.C., Rick and Higgins. Magnum has his signature Dodgers baseball cap, Higgins has a Playmobil parrot. Each character can also use the Playmobil walkie talkie, binoculars and camera. there is even a coconut tree to complete the island feel.

Magnum PI

the set is retailing at $79.99 and a must have for collectors who are fans of the 1980s and specifically Magnum, p.i..
