I’ve got an iPod, iPad, Seagate TV and many computers. I also have a ton of DVDs and am thinking that when we move I’d rather not have a ton of DVDs cluttering up the entertainment center. I’d like to condense our collection of movies to some hard drives. But, in order to do that I need to rip them to the computer. I had been looking to purchase some software but as fate would have it a rep from Digiarty Software contacted me and asked if I’d like to review some of their software. I chose the WinX DVD Ripper Platinum Software so I could rip my DVDs like I’ve done with my music.
The first thing that jumped out at me when I started using this software was that there were so many formats that I could save the file into but the software organizes things really well and lets me pick the format quickly and easily. There are a ton of options like to iPod, to iPad, to Zune, to AVI, to PSP and many many more formats. For the most part the DVDs that I loaded up were quickly turned into digital copies. The quickest option for me to save to the hard drive and then play on my Seagate TV is to use the simple copy feature. I insert the disk, click copy and then insert my hard drive into my Seagate TV and bang, I’m watching my DVD through my hard drive.
I know that there are people on both sides of the fence on this but you know what. I bought my DVDs and if I want to watch them on any screen I own than I should be able to do that. With the WinX DVD Ripper Platinum software I am able to do this. Imagine having to buy your CDs and then having to buy a digital copy of your songs just so you could listen to them on your MP3 player. No way am I buying my media twice.
the first movie I ripped was TMNT. I’ve wanted to watch that on my iPad for a while and so I set the DVD in the try and loaded it up. I was able to quickly start saving that as a file formatted for the iPad. I then figured that I’d make a copy as well so I did that too. You can change the quality settings on your copies as well. So if you want the highest quality you can burn your DVDs at that rate, but for small screens it doesn’t really matter that much, at least I didn’t notice any major differences when I did that. Also I don’t want anything except for the movie itself. If I want the DVD commentary and special behind the scenes stuff I’ll go ahead and take out the DVD to watch but if I just want the movie this makes things so much easier. No pre-movie commercials, let’s just get to it. Nice!
I think that you should have the option to view your media on whatever screen you own as well. So I’m giving away two copies of the software. One for Windows and one for Mac.

We rip our DVDs and put them on the iPod Touch. We have a special cord we bought from apple so we could then output the kids’ movies to their portable DVD player. No longer do we take DVDs on trips… and no more scratched DVDs! it’s cool that you are giving this away. I think it is totally the way everyone should go… We’d like the Windows version.
