The CW has a new show out called Gossip Girl. It is from the same people that brought you the O.C. So you know it is going to be popular. That is one of the themes of Gossip Girl, popularity. If you aren’t being talked about then you are not popular.
One of the characters of the show is a blogger who uses her blog to spread gossip about the other characters. I have not used my blog in that way but I have gotten a bit more popular online because of my blog. I’ve met great people and I learn new things each day. I guess maybe if I was more exciting I’d be talked about or gossiped about but I think I am fine just being a little popular.
The Character of Gossip Girl is also a mystery. she seems to know everything about the main characters of the show but we don’t know about her. This is an interesting plot device of a show. For one thing gossip hurts people and can get them riled up about who is gossiping about them, but add in the mystery of an unknown character to the mix and you are talking some high drama. This should make for a good series with many plot twists if it is done right. People seem to be responding to the show so I think it will do well.
Don’t forget to watch Gossip Girl on The CW which airs at 9 p.m. EST on Wednesdays!
Here is a blurb about the show itself. This describes the overall premise.
Gossip Girl is an upcoming American television teen drama created by Josh Schwartz, creator of The O.C., and Stephanie Savage. The show is based on the novel series by Cecily von Ziegesar.Gossip Girl revolves around the lives of socialite young adults growing up on New York’s Upper East Side who attend elite academic institutions whilst dealing with sex, drugs, and other teenage issues. The series mainly centers around the lives of best friends, Serena van der Woodsen (Blake Lively) and Blair Waldorf (Leighton Meester), and their shared romantic interest, Nate Archibald (Chace Crawford). As outsiders looking in, Dan (Penn Badgley) and Jenny Humphrey (Taylor Momsen) do not run in the same social or financial circles as their peers but are drawn into their lives nonetheless. The series is narrated by a seemingly omniscient character, “Gossip Girl” (voiced by Kristen Bell), who runs a website blogging about her fellow Upper East Siders consequently stirring the pot and feeding potential rivalries in this exclusive and vicious circle of friends.
