Today Allison, Eva and I went to the Coonamessett Farm with my sister Tara. Tara bought a membership to the farm with all the names of the family on it so we can go visit the farm whenever we’d like. Having a membership also means that we can pick our own vegetables and gather eggs from the farm’s chickens. Literally you go into the bar and there are little doors that you can open and reach in and gather the eggs from the chickens. And the eggs are still warm. That was such a cool thing to see Eva and the egg. She was very careful with it but just the same she did have Tara and Allison there for backup.
Allison and I have been over that way before but never to the farm. Six years ago (Yeah that is crazy) but six years ago Allison and I went kayaking on Coonamessett Pond. It was a great paddle on an fresh water pond on the Cape. It must have been because the next day I went back and paddled there with my Dad. I guess we have to get back over to the pond and do some paddling and this time I can take some video of the trip. Man, those trips were pre-Photo-A-Day. Hard to believe I’ve been blogging that long. |

While at the farm Eva found a play area and that was where she wanted to spend her time. She did however go and help Tara with the picking of Eggplants, Lettuce and other things. I walked around shooting photos of the flowers, butterflies and other things that I love photographing. The farm had a huge area of planted flowers and there were goldfinches, and butterflies and bees all over the place. It was really cool and would love to go back early some morning and set up with my camera and tripod. Maybe on another trip.
After that we came home, had lunch and headed for the beach. Eva now has this thing where she must go right into the water immediately when we get to the beach. I like to get all hot from the sun first and then run in. But what can you do when the kiddo is hell bent on getting into the water. You go in. And then two seconds into being in the water she wants to get out. Getting int he water for her means playing at the shoreline running away from the waves.
Eva made a new friend today named Tegan (sp). Tegan is nearly 4 years old and it was so cute to watch Eva and Tegan play. Eva copied much of what Tegan did and they both enjoyed playing in the waves with my mom.
We finished out the day with some ice cream at the Spiral cone or “Swirls” as everyone calls it. The location is off the beaten path but I enjoy going there because the owner is a friend of my sister Shelby’s and he’s always great to us. Plus, I’d rather help out a local guy working hard than a chain place any day. Eva loved her ice cream and despite firm warnings that she was not going to sleep, she was out 5 seconds after we got back int he car and headed home. Listening to her snore all the way back was music to our ears. Don’t get me wrong I love the sound of my daughter’s voice but she is the question queen. There are only so many questions that one can answer in a day. I hit my limit at noon.
Tonight I got to record Geek Dads Weekly with Daniel M Clark and our special guest was Jim Kukral. Jim was great guest and even when I hit him with a tough question off the cuff he came up with a great idea. I asked how we could promote the show more and what sort of attention getting way we could do that. He said, ask Ashton Kutcher to be on the show. He’s a Dad now and can certainly relate to geek stuff and raising kids in a Digital World. What the heck why not ask. If you didn’t already know I’ve been reading Jim Kukral’s book Attention! This Book Will Make You Money: How to Use Attention-Getting Online Marketing to Increase Your Revenue (Aff Link). I finished it Sunday and it was really good. I’ve going to have Jim sign it at Affiliate Summit East 2010 this weekend. I’m also going to have Jim sign the other copy and that one I will be giving away in a contest once I get back.
