For Halloween I picked up a small pumpkin for Eva. We also got a bigger one for the front steps from our friend Mike. We left it out for a very long time, well past freshness. As it started to decompose I put it on the snow and off the steps. The snow is gone and now the pumpkin is nothing more than a stem and some seeds. I hope that some make it into the ground and the circle is complete.
Today I guest posted at the IZEA blog. That post is all about using your digital cameras to their full potential. Then I finally got a post up for FuelMyBlog and I started BenSpark’s Photo Challenge on that blog. I’m hoping that the FuelMyBlog community gets interested in submitting images for the weekly themed challenge.
On The Wired Kayaker my friend Lisa wrote a guest post. She was on a bloggers only interview with captains from The Deadliest catch. I was asked if I wanted to do it but wasn’t that interested because I’ve never watched the show. Lisa was a big fan so I asked if she could do the interview and if she wanted to guest post on The Wired Kayaker. It all worked out except for a technical glitch in the interview, but she did write a great guest post.

I guess if those seeds make it full circle we won’t be able to mow the lawn. We’ll let it turn into a pumpkin patch.
Dad,
I wouldn’t think of it as not being ‘able’ to mow the lawn but rather not ‘having to’ mow the lawn. The Wisteria will kill it before it gets too far.
Very cool about Lisa! My husband loves that show. Hey, your entrecard doesn’t have the ability for me to drop my card on it. ? The one on SocialCard didn’t either.

You know I have pumpkins that look like that on my plant shelf outside.

Karen,
I don’t know why this keeps happening with my entrecard. I had 103 people drop on my so far today and it worked fine for me. I wonder what is happening. Yeah I just happened to mention it to her and she was up for writing the post. Very cool.
dragonfly,
Yeah this pumpkin wasted away very slowly but It is cool what is left.
Every time I make a pumpkin lantern, or roast meat with pumpkin, I also roast the pumpkin seeds. They are great source of goodness (heaps of zink) and they taste nice too. All these seeds need is just a simple quick wash and on any old pizza tray they get done to golden color pretty fast.
Roasted Pumpkin seeds also make an outstanding vinaigrette. Crush them in a food processor or mortar and pestle and combine them with vinegar, oil, honey, dijon mustard, shallots, and either mint or tarragon. I’d recommend using a lighter vinegar such as sherry, banyuls, or champagne as something like balsamic would be too overpowering. This would probably taste really good with Haggi’s Pumpkin and Fennel salad.
