Last night Allison, Eva and I were lucky enough to get free passes to go and see The Rockettes in Boston. The show was party of the Radio City Christmas Spectacular, starring The Rockettes (Twitter: @GetSpectacular), (Facebook: RadioCityChristmas). I had never seen The Rockettes before but Allison had gone in the past with all the women on my Father’s side of the family. She loved the show then and knew that Eva would love the show last night. I knew that she’d love it too because she enjoys dance so much. I wasn’t sure how much I would like it because in my mind I was wondering how entertaining it was going to be to see dancers who simply kicked their legs in the air. That is pretty much all I knew of The Rockettes. Oh how wrong I was!
The Rockettes are amazing. They did all sorts of dances including their signature line of synchronized leg kicks. And to tell you the truth, that was pretty fantastic too. I found the entire evening to be so much fun. I didn’t realize that Santa played such a big role in the show, nor did I realize that it would be funny. I also was blown away by the ending and that was incredible and moving.
Eva made it a good 40 minutes through the show and then she faded. But, whenever we take Eva to fun events like this we make sure to watch her reaction. She was at full attention to what was happening on the stage. Eva takes tap and ballet and sure dancing to her is so mesmerizing. She dances around the house and pretends to be a ballerina. Today she was doing leg kicks and pretending to be a “Rah-pette”. That was how she was pronouncing Rockette until today when she now pronounces Rockettes perfectly. We only get less than 24 hours before her cute kid words become perfectly pronounced words.
I was given these tickets freely to go and review the performance and then share that review with you. When we arrived I didn’t look at the tickets to see where we were sitting or anything. We went to dinner and when we got back to the theater to look at the tickets Allison burst out laughing. On the ticket it was printed “Mommy Blogger, A. Bennett”. Such is the life of a Dad Blogger in a Mom Blogger dominated online world. I had a good laugh too and will probably hang on to the tickets for that little memory. But that wasn’t the best part about our tickets. We were in the orchestra section right in the middle. We had perfect seats.
I’d recommend that you make this show part of your Christmas traditions. The kids will love it and the adults will too. They sell beer and wine at the theater as well as hot pretzels, popcorn and more. The only thing you can’t do is take photos in the theater and so I have no other photos than these promotional photos for this post.

That had to be so fun!! What a great family outing:)
Mo,
It was so much fun. I really enjoyed it and Eva & Allison loved it too.
We went on Saturday and I was shocked that both of my kids, especially my 3 year old, sat mesmerized for a good portion of the show, too.
Robin,
It has so many great visuals for the kids that I’m not surprised that they were entertained. Glad you guys got to go and liked it too.
