Yesterday my friend and Dad.fm co-host, Adam Cohen of DadaRocks went to an event in NYC where he got to get hands on with a few of the new figures and vehicles from the game. We just finished recording our reaction podcast about the new series and it is pretty cool. You can see Adam’s personal photos from the event on that post. I also have a great new intro video for the game: BUCKLE UP!

So, strap in because I have a TON of Skylanders SuperChargers news for you today. Yes, that’s right Skylanders SuperChargers, the fifth installment in the highly popular Skylanders franchise. This time instead of just toys to life or trapping villains or giants or swappable figures we are getting vehicles. Three classes or types of vehicles to be exact. They are for Land, Sea and Sky (can’t say Air because there is already and Air Element in the game). The official announcement says that there will be twenty vehicles and twenty SuperCharger characters. Here is my prediction on that. There will be two figures and vehicles of each of the 10 elements (Tech, Air, Fire, Water, Magic, Undead, Life, Earth, Dark, Light). Of these twenty characters I think at least 8 will be of characters we have seen before who are now SuperChargers. You can see that Stealth Elf is a Super Charger and it looks like Trigger Happy and Terrafin are as well. I don’t think that they’ll take the two light or two dark characters and remold them so soon after Trap Team. It would be a good time to build up that element with four new characters.
Speaking of new characters. Two new characters have been introduced (actually a third one is in one of the images below and then there is a new Stealth Elf). These new characters are SuperChargers Spitfire and Stormblade. Spitfire is a Tech enhanced Fire Spirit and Stormblade is a bird, a female character, too. My friend and also fellow Dad.fm co-host, Jeff Bogle of Out With the Kids will be excited to get this character, she sounds very cool. Here are a couple of images of each of these new characters.
Both of these characters look excellent. I love the look of Spitfire’s blue flame wings and then Stormblade’s ability to fire off her metal feathers as weapons. Here’s a look at each of the character’s toys.
I wish I had been able to see these figures in person at the event yesterday. I was invited but was unable to attend. I know that they had Spitfire and Stormblade on hand to see and touch. The sculpts for these figures get better and better. Of all the toys to life figures Skylanders have always been the best looking and that continues to be the case. What do the character look like in the game? Here are some screenshots.
Each Supercharger character will be paired with a SuperCharger vehicle. When the two are used together then you get SuperCharged Combos. A SuperCharged combination unlocks an exclusive mod that revs up the performance of both the vehicle and character. So for the characters of Spitfire and Stormblade they have their own signature vehicles in Hot Streak and SkySlicer respectively. Here is an illustration of each of those vehicles.
Here are images of the Superchargers vehicle toys. Vehicles add an all new aspect to the game. The game delivers a dynamic, story-driven gameplay experience, filled with vehicle-based and on-foot adventure – complete with combat, puzzles, mini games, activities and platforming — all set within a variety of compelling environments. There will be 20 new vehicles toys that fans can play with that feature a variety of designs and types – race cars, motorcycles, boats, tanks, helicopters, jets, submarines and more.
- Land: Stunt, skid, and drift while driving and experiencing high octane combat
- Sea: Explore underwater seas, race down roaring rapids and ride the surf and waves
- Sky: Engage in aerial dogfighting and enjoy freedom of flight with 360 degrees of control
Here are some Screenshots of the SuperChargers vehicles in the game.
In addition to these new characters Spitfire and Stormblade there are also returning characters who are becoming SuperChargers. Stealth Elf is one such character and she is even going to be part of the new Starter Pack. This new Stealth Elf is called Super shot Stealth elf and she has this sort of Thorny gatling gun and is dressed in a vehicle fire suit and helmet. She looks great.
One other vehicle that has been revealed and specifically named is Dive Bomber. this is a submarine that is linked to SuperCharger Dive-Clops who looks like a Cyclops in a diving suit. You can see him in in the illustration image below.
Well that is the new game and here is the official description of that Skylanders Superchargers.
