I received a Wii U Starter Pack, several characters and also a Tablet Starter Pack to review and play with. Opinions are 100% my own.

One of my favorite toy and video game franchises ever is Skylanders. This Christmas for my holiday gift guide I recommend picking up the fifth iteration of Skylanders called Skylanders SuperChargers. This time around the Skylanders have vehicles of the land, sea and sky. You can tear across Skylanders on monster trucks, tanks and motorcycles and soar through the air in jets, helicopters and spaceships but if the water is what you like then submarines and speedboats are your best bet. The new toys are some of the best ever made in the line.

So many great options have been added to this game including head to head races and then four player online racing. There is also the whole adventure portion of the game which has the SuperChargers trying to stop Kaos from destroying Skylands. This is the first time, too that character are added to the game from outside the Skylanders universe. Two Nintendo characters, Donkey Kong and Bowser have been brought into the game as guest stars and the toys themselves work as Skylanders and also Amiibo figures.

For a complete-ist like me trying to get all the characters proved rather difficult this time around because of the number of starter packs that one would have to purchase just to get every character. There were the Nintendo versions which has the characters of Bowser and Donkey Kong but there were also Dark versions of those characters. Then there was the standard versions of characters like Spitfire and his car, Hot Streak and even Dark versions of those. To top it all off there was even a special “Golden” Hot Streak in some starter packs. Well, I ended up getting them all and that means that friends and family go copies of the game for deep discounts so I could keep some figures.

I have been having a great time playing this game on both the Wii U and also on my iPad. The nice thing about the iPad is that I can take with me to use during my break at work. I can get a little further in the game each time I play. I haven’t finished the game yet but enjoy playing each time I get a chance.

Right now there are some great deals to get this game for Christmas and just in time for Christmas there is a new Christmas Carol from the Skylanders and the artists of the game came together to help SuperCharge Santa’s sleigh. Check out the videos below.
