Andy started basketball in gym class today and because of that he came home and shot some baskets on the hoop and then used the treadmill in the basement. He used the treadmill for 45 minutes. He told Allison that he did not want to let his team down when they play in class. I’m not sure how much he’ll be using the treadmill but this is a nice start for him to do some exercise outside of karate.
Maybe this will even motivate me to get back out and walking like I used to. I do have to get my running under way for my next attempt at the black belt test. Andy will have his soon enough as well.
The other day I got the garage totally cleaned up and ready to assemble the B.A.S. Body Action system. This morning I went and started to set it up. I learned that I needed some sand to weigh down the bags that hold the B.A.S. in place. So, I went to Lowe’s and picked up 3 50lb bags. The setup instructions call for 6 bags but I got 10 bags with the set. I ended up filling 8 of them so there is 150lbs holding this down.
Putting the B.A.S. together went really well. I liked everything about it until I had to put the protective foam covers back on the bars. They just don’t fit right once you put the arms on. I contemplated cutting up a bunch of pool noodles to custom fit some coverings. I’ll have to check on it again and see if I can fit them better.
This afternoon I was able to spend some time with my Aunt and Uncle and cousin and her kids. They came up to go to the zoo that is around the corner from us. I was able to give a few of our older toys to the kids and some kid-sized garden tools. We enjoyed a nice lunch at the playground and then they went into the zoo and I went home to put together the B.A.S. and get a nap in before work.
