We received the new Disney Infinity Zootopia figures today to play with and review. Also, Disney Infinity NEXT happened today. This was a Livestream where many new announcements were revealed. Much of the video was devoted to Marvel Battlegrounds including new character reveals like Ant-Man, Vision and Black Panther. A total surprise to me was the future inclusion of Baloo the bear into Disney Infinity 3.0. The one question that I still have is how will 4 player work locally when the base only has room for two characters. I didn’t have a moment to ask those questions of the Q&A session. It was a great video and I’m looking forward to all the new additions to Disney Infinity 3.0.
In today’s vlog we opened the Zootopia figures Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde. We also opened the Zootopia Power Discs. Then later tonight we played with those characters. Judy Hopps has an almost unbeatable attack. She is super quick and does incredible bunny kicks. Nick Wilde’s attack is to swing a Jumbo Pop or throw it. We played for a while and the kids had so much fun beating on me as Judy Hopps. While I should have been getting an extra couple of hours worth of sleep today I was obsessively refreshing my Twitter feed to get the latest news from the Disney Interactive Panel from friends who were at D23 Expo. While the panel discussed games like Kingdom Hearts III, Playmation, Disney Magic Kingdoms, Star Wars Battlefront – Battle of Jakku, I was more interested to see what was revealed for Disney Infinity 3.0. What special revelations would come out of the event. New characters? New Playsets? More info on the Toy Box Mode? I wanted to know it all.
So I read along with my friends on Twitter. I retweeted and favorited many of their tweets. They put up images of the newly announced characters like Nick Wilde and Judy Hopps from Walt Disney Animation Studios’ Zootopia, Spot from Disney•Pixar’s The Good Dinosaur and a limited edition set of Light FX Star Wars™ character figures that light up when placed onto the Disney Infinity Base. While those were very cool reveals there was also the announcement that Peter Pan would be coming to Disney Infinity 3.0 next year. There was also a reveal of two characters from the upcoming Star Wars™ The Force Awakens themed Play Set, Finn and Rey. The audience was treated to a surprise when the actors who play these characters came out on stage with the character reveal. They even gave away figures to two lucky attendees.
Another special announcement was that the Keyblade from Kingdom Hearts will become an item in the Disney Infinity 3.0 Toy Box. Attendees received a special Disney Infinity 3.0 Power Disc that lets Mickey Mouse dress in his King Outfit from that game. I believe that attendees also got the Mickey Mouse figure as well.
