At WordCamp Boston 2010 there were many fun surprises including some give aways like great designer USB flash drives from mimoco. I ended up winning this cute little Hello Kitty mimobot (for Eva because every 2 yr old needs a 2GB USB drive), that is what the USB drives are called. I first learned about mimobots back in 2007 at CollegeFest. Their booth was directly across the way from us. They had just started their Star Wars series of mimobots too. That set included some great characters.

Flash Drives with personality.
While at CollegeFest this past weekend I was introduced to the Mimoco company. The company was selling their mimobot flash drives and they were also giving away stickers of mimobots as well as little plastic toys called Vimobots. Vimobots are actually Pure Vinyl Art Toys. I ended up with a ton of the stickers as well as two of the vimobots. I didn’t get a flash drive but that would have been cool.
The flash drives that they sell range in capacity from 512MB to 4GB. They are also a 2 3/8″ x 1 1/8″ x ½” small. And when the USB drive is engaged the tail lights up to indicate data activity.
As someone who love technology as well as toys I find this to be an awesome marriage of the two ideas. Mimoco has license to make Star Wars characters too. Their first series features Chewbacca, a Storm Trooper, R2D2 and Darth Vader. I picked up stickers of each of those mimobots. The mimoco company also has license to make Halo 3 mimobots and they include bots for Master Chief, Red Spartan and Blue Spartan.
Take a look at these fun and collectible technology toys. I wish they would make some Transformer mimobots.
