The Struggle is Real for the Snuggle-Pedic in Our Bedroom

Pillow Tug O War

Have you ever found the perfect pillow? I mean, THE pillow that you would never ever even think of sleeping without? Growing up, my mom had this amazing foam pillow. It was the perfect thickness and was always cool. I like the cool side of the pillow. This was the perfect pillow. Obviously that pillow has been lost to the annals of time. Well, I’ve searched for a pillow like that ever since. I think that I may have found it with the Snuggle-Pedic from Relief-Mart, Inc. I received a free pillow a few weeks ago. Opinions are my own.

The day I got it was right before my company picnic. Each year when the company picnic arrives I end up sleeping in the office before and after the picnic. I used the Snuggle-Pedic while I stretched between two chairs in a break room. While the chairs weren’t comfortable, at least my head was on the Snuggle-Pedic.

Despite the overall comfort of the Snuggle-Pedic I felt that I needed more firmness to the pillow. The great thing about this pillow is that it is customization to my own specifications for firmness. I contacted the folks who gave me the pillow and told them that I liked it but wish that it could be firmer. They told me:

Thank you for contacting me and I apologize for the inconvenience, but we definitely have a great solution! While we choose the amount of fill, as well as the firmness, weight and support for the Snuggle-Pedic based on what has worked well for the majority of customers, we realize that not any one single pillow can work for everyone, so we developed a customizable in-home fix. We recently added a zipper for easy access to add more shredded foam fill, which will allow you to change the thickness and firmness of the pillow. We will be happy to send you more of our premium proprietary shredded foam fill, which will increase the firmness of the pillow and we will do so at no cost whatsoever! For us to do so, we just need to get an idea of how much more you will need and whether you will need a firmer blend. One quick way to tell how much of a change you need, is to move the foam over to one side of the pillow to create a thicker section on your pillow and lay your head down to test different thickness until you find one that is comfortable for you. Then, let us know a percentage of foam to send to you. An example would be that you feel you need 25% more fill (the average range is usually between 20% and 33%).

Even with adding the easy access zipper to allow each customer to alter the level of fill, we still realize that there is not one pillow that can meet the needs of every customer and since we manufacture every pillow right here in our Southern California facility, we still are the only company to offer our customers free customized foam blends that enable us to further change the level of firmness, weight, and buoyancy/springiness. If adding more foam fill does not give you the firmness/support you need, then we will be happy to customize a more firm/supportive blend for you.

Snuggle-Pedic Bamboo Pillow

The Snuggle-Pedic uses bamboo shredded memory foam pillow. It is made from 100% U.S.A. materials and they are manufactured in a Southern California facility. I requested 40% more foam. Yeah, I wanted that pillow to be really, really firm. The additional shredded foam arrived quickly and I easily unzipped the pillow and filled. My wife, Allison watched as I did this. I thought it was mere curiosity at her husband reviewing yet another product. But what she was actually doing was plotting to take the pillow for her own. While she seemingly asked innocent questions she was coveting my new pillow. Soon she go her chance to take it. I work weekend nights and the very first Friday I was off to work she took my pillow to sleep on for the night. I got home on Saturday morning and she told me that she had used my new pillow. She insisted that we needed to get another one of these because she had not had a better night’s sleep in a very long time. She had fallen in love with my new pillow.

The real struggle will happen on Monday night when I am home and she has used my pillow for 3 nights. I think we’re gonna need a second Snuggle-Pedic. I had better not let the kids get their hands, or heads on it or else I’m going to end up needing three more!

I Think I Angered My Beautyrest Sleeptracker Monitor

Super Early Bird Deal at Summer scoops
Photo-A-Day #4400

Recently, I posted about the Beautyrest® Sleeptracker® monitor. It is a product I received to review and promote. I was compensated. I use it every night to monitor my sleep. Today was my first time using it while I slept for the day while I worked overnights. I’m pretty sure that my Sleeptracker is mad at how pitiful my sleep was today. I am not sure exactly when I drifted off to sleep because…

Okay, this was how the day went. I got home form work and stopped at my parent’s house to pick up my Dad’s truck. I was picking up some rain barrels today at 9 am. I watched an episode of Transformers Robots in Disguise (Season 3 just started) and fell asleep while watching. I got up in time to get over to the recycling center to get the rain barrels and was back by 9:15. That should have given me a great day of sleep. The problem is that I didn’t go right to sleep. I read part of the comic book that I got from the Marvel Collector Corps box that I unboxed yesterday. That usually gets me to sleep. It didn’t. Then I reached for my Nintendo Switch. Link and I set off through Hyrule to find shrines and side quests and much more. When I am super tired and I play video games I tend to fall asleep with them on my face or millimeters from it. Not this time. I must have powered through to stay awake and continue playing. I didn’t even look at the time when I finally stopped. Then I rolled over and went to sleep.

I woke up at 3:29 and looked at the results of the Sleeptracker monitor. I had slept for 1 hour. One single hour. I apparently was awake for at least 2 hours before I opened my eyes at 3:29.

I’m completely out of practice for weekend sleeping. No one was home and I didn’t put in my earplugs. I played too long on the video game and I didn’t get to sleep immediately upon returning home. I’m thinking that tomorrow’s sleep tracker screen can’t look any worse.

On the way to work I decided that I wanted to have ice cream for dinner and I stopped in to Summer Scoops. They have some good soft serve ice cream. Well, on Saturdays between 4 and 6 they have a super deal where you get two hot dogs, chips and a drink plus an ice cream. Well, I couldn’t pass that up for under $5. What a deal.

So, I may not have slept much today but some ice cream certainly put me in a better mood.
