Being a TeleNav Navigator in Chief affords me the opportunity to go on excursions with the family. One of my favorite aspects of the TeleNav app is the local apps section and on it there is the movie app. I was all set to go see the Transformers movie either with my wife Allison or alone. I had taken 2 hours of holiday time so that I could go into work two hours late. However, we couldn’t find a sitter.
I used the TeleNav app to check, recheck and check again on where the Transformers movie was playing relative to where I live and also relative to where I work. Trying to find a movie that I could go to and still get to work on time and not one too early where I’d be hanging around and waiting to go to work. Well, I didn’t end up going to the movie. We decided instead to make it a family movie and go see Cars 2. So I checked out that movie and the best place and time for us to see it. Then we also used the app to look up and find where and when the Transformers was playing on the Cape. So we’ll try and go see the movie (Allison and I) on Tuesday of the coming week.
Once we settled on Cars 2 I used the TeleNav app to get directions to the theater. sure I knew how to get there because I’ve gone to that theater many times. I didn’t use the Fandango option because unfortunately Fandango only works at certain theaters. I do like that there is the option to do that though.
So we went to the theater and saw the movie. Cars 2 was a bit of a disappointment to me, I liked the movie from an adult perspective. I laughed many times throughout the movie however for a 3 1/2 year old this movie had themes that were a bit too much to handle. For one thing the movie centered around a plot to kill Lighting McQueen. Mater gets mistaken for an American spy and connects with some British spies. Some cars are killed including the real American Spy (played by the ever awesome Bruce Campbell) and honestly that was a huge jump from the lighthearted movie that was the original Cars. I was disappointed in where they took the series.
Eva liked much of the movie but there were also parts where she became scared and when she gets scared she dances around trying to hide. I love the child but she is not a cuddly one, she is a whirling dervish and no amount of holding her can stop her from moving. She is constantly on the go and so when she loses interest she wants to get moving. Overall Cars 2 was not exactly a good choice to a sensitive little 3 1/2 year old.
After the movie I used the TeleNav places app to pick a place for dinner. I saw that there was a Longhorn Steakhouse just up the road that I had forgotten about. We went there for our dinner. The service wasn’t that great and the food was so, so. Eva barely touched her grilled Cheese but I suspect that had more to do with the popcorn she had at the movies than anything else.
I discovered quite a few things about the TeleNav app like the ability to enter a star rating on the business. I’d love to see a connection directly to Yelp so that I could leave more feedback on the service and quality of the meal. I mentioned in the video that when we used TeleNav to go to the movies it told us too early to turn for the theater and I expressed that I wish I could edit the listing. Well, I found out that I could leave feedback on the listing like, the business is no longer in service, wrong address and more. I took the time to leave feedback on a few places in the neighborhood that are no longer open.
I used my new Sony Bloggie Duo to record a video of our experiences. I will be posting that video once I have some time to process it. I went right from dinner to work.
