The other day I got a green box in the mail and that means only one thing, a Postie Pack. These things are so much fun because often they are filled with super fun stuff. This one was no exception. Inside was the fun Turkey Hat as well as a bottle of Jones Soda. The hat, ridiculous and funny, the soda a weird and scary flavor, Tofurky and Gravy Jones Soda .
Eva and Allison love the hat, especially when I am wearing it and looking like a goof. I had a really fun time popping up and down over Eva’s crib. She was squealing over and over with laughter.
To be honest I was very, very afraid to try this soda. I looked at it and was nervous about the anticipation of the flavor. I was afraid it was going to be gross, really gross. There was nothing appetizing to me about trying real Tofurky let alone Tofurky in the bottle. I love the Jones Soda Black Cherry flavor because they have it in Sugar Free and it is delicious. Tofurkey did not instill me with the thought of deliciousness.
I did have fun taking a few photos with the soda though.>
To keep things as real and authentic as possible I even had Allison take a video of me trying Tofurky and Gravy on video.
To be honest it wasn’t gross. It had a light caramel flavor. I didn’t mind it but didn’t like it very much. I’d probably give this to my Brother-In-Law Erik or our friend Mike. I’m pretty sure they would not like it but we’d have fun daring each other to try it.
I let Allison try it and she did not like it at all.
You are a brave, brave soul. I don’t know about trying anything labeled turkey soda- even if it does have a caramel flavor. Though you can tell by your face that ‘it’s not bad’ means…don’t make me drink it again! LOL I love Jone Soda, but I’ll stick to the sweeter flavors.
PS- I would like a pink turkey hat if you find one 🙂

A Pink turkey hat, so that would be the “before” one. It was a weird flavor I’ll say that. Allison flat out hated it. I’d go for the other flavors too. Black Cherry is my all time fave.

This reminds me of how, every year before Thanksgiving, on the Regis & Kelly Show, Regis always samples some weird flavor of Jones Soda on the air. He’s tried stuff like Turkey & Gravy, Brussels Sprouts, etc. Then he always tried to get Kelly to drink some. Once she did try some, and she went running off the stage and got sick.
Oh, well, this stuff is not for everyone! I prefer the more *normal* flavors of Jones Soda myself. And, to be honest, I probably would never eat actual Tofurky, either. Partially because Mike would probably divorce me if I even THOUGHT about having that instead of a real turkey. But hey, whatever floats your boat!

I am certainly no tofurky lover, ugh the thought of it. I figured that the soda wouldn’t be that terrible and they wouldn’t make a ton of it just for a joke so it had to just look like gravy flavored water. It was weird.

I don’t try a lot of them but just the normal flavors for me most of the time. This was a “special” occasion. I do like the hat though, it is a riot.
Hilarious post! I kept seeing this stuff advertised and would never have gotten any myself. And yet I was strangely curious about it. I’m glad to hear that it didn’t really taste like gravy.

The bottle kept calling to me in the fridge. I was thinking that I’d be running directly for the bathroom after I sipped it but turned out that no I was wrong, it was weird but not bad.

It was weird, very weird.
You had the same idea I had (post a video as you took your taste test)! I’m with you. I actually couldn’t stand the taste. I tried giving it the whole bottle but after about a third of the bottle I had to dispose of it.

I watched your video, I’d have to say that yours was much better lit than mine and you have a much more polished approach to the overall video thing. I could not taste gravy or turkey as you could. My tastes ran towards caramel but it was still a bit not for my pallet.

I’ve never gotten a postie pack in the mail. Although, I think that may be a good thing, because I wouldn’t have been brave enough to try to the soda flavor! I sure as heck would have dared my boys to try it though LOL
