Tonight was the third WordPress Providence Meetup at McFadden’s Providence. This week I was responsible for securing the sponsor and I was able to get IZEA to sponsor the event. IZEA choose to sponsor as their property Sponsored Tweets. It always amazes me that people on twitter do not know about Sponsored Tweets. It was fun to talk about IZEA at the tweetup.
The talk this week was done by Aaron Ball of MoFuse. I talked with Aaron for a long time about MoFuse and how they can render websites and blogs on over 5,000 mobile devices. They are able to scale images capture RSS Feeds and so much more to make your website accessible to pretty much every possible web enabled mobile device. They even have a free wordpress plug in that you can use to make your blog mobile friendly. I’ll have to give that a try soon. I took photos and this time some video of the event and talk. |

IZEA was a great sponsor, they sent not only a banner and the $100 to sponsor the event ($100 for some appetizers and free drinks for 15 people). They also sent swag like t-shirts, stickers and the giant pens. I gave out the swag and talked to people about IZEA and Sponsored Tweets.
After the Meetup I made my way over to the Apple Store at the Providence Place Mall. I had gotten the receipt for my MacBook from The Protocol Institute.
Laura and Jocelyn have been so fantastic in helping me exchange the MacBook for iPads, so that Both Allison and I could have something rather than me just having something. I also wanted iPads because there are some great apps from PBSKids.org that Eva would really enjoy them.
So I went to the Apple store armed with digital versions of the receipts that I have, one for the MacBook and the other for Apple Care that I bought. I first met Emily there and she helped connect me with Debbie the manager who allowed me to return the MacBook even though it was beyond the return time. I explained what I wanted to do, I wanted to return the MacBook and buy two iPads. Debbie brought me to Ryan and Ryan helped me return the MacBook and get a gift card with the total amount of the return on it. Everyone that I worked with there at the Providence Place Apple Store was so nice and helpful.
There were no iPads in stock though so I had to place orders for them. I decided upon ordering the Wireless 64GB ones for me and for Allison. So, in about a week or so the store is supposed to get some more delivered and they will contact me when they are in. It is a little wait but that is okay, I’m in no huge rush, I’m just glad how things worked out.
When I got home I told Allison and she was so excited. We both went onto iFrogz.com and picked out protective covers for our iPads. I picked out the Luxe Lean Case in Blue and Allison decided upon the Luxe Lean in Pink. These should allow us to get carrying cases for the iPad as well so that we can properly protect them. I’m figuring that the cases will be here when the iPads arrive and therefore we will be able to protect them right away.
