The Wild Kratts have a new DVD that hit shelves on January 5, 2016. This new DVD contains a selection of Australian themed episodes. Andrew and I have been watching more and more of the Wild Kratts together. We watch all sorts of episodes on Netflix and the PBS Kids App. The upstairs TV is a Roku TV so we get the app right on the TV. That comes in handy when selecting shows for the kids at night and Wild Kratts is one of the favorites.
The DVD is fun. I’ve always wanted to go to Australia and so learning about the animals of that part of the world is interesting to me. The kids loved the stuffed plush Koala that we were sent, too. More about the DVD below.

In the first two episodes on this DVD, the Kratt Brothers explore the Australian Outback. In “Koala Balloon,” the brothers find a stranded koala in the desert. In order to help the koala the brothers work to get their new friend back to its eucalyptus forest habitat. In “Kickin’ it with the Roos,” the brothers are motoring through the Australian Outback in the createrra looking for red kangaroos. When the brothers finally locate a mob of red kangaroos, they run into trouble when the keys to the createrra are stolen by a joey. This episode also features two fascinating birds – a kookaburra and a wedge-tailed eagle!
In the bonus episode on this DVD, “Platypus Café,” the brothers learn about one of the most unusual animals in the world – the duck-billed platypus. In order to get to know this creature, Martin and Chris use the miniaturizer to shrink and enter a platypus burrow.
“WILD KRATTS: AUSTRALIAN ADVENTURES” will be available on DVD January 5, 2016. The DVD run time is approximately 60 minutes and its SRP is $12.99. The episodes included on this DVD are listed below.
“Koala Balloon”
Martin and Chris must protect a young koala stranded in the Australian Outback, and help him get back to his eucalyptus forest habitat. On their quest to return the adorable animal home, the brothers discover lots of interesting facts about how animals are specialized to their own environment.
“Kickin’ it with the Roos”
When Chris and Martin meet up with a mob of red kangaroos, they get their car keys stolen by a joey and have to figure out how to get them back from the tricky little guy. As they jump into the life of the roos to search for the missing keys, the brothers realize that animals live in different kinds of social groups and they have important behaviors that keep the group together and safe. But everybody wonders just how safe this search has become, when Chris and Martin get tangled up in a kickboxing match with the dominant male and caught in the middle of a dingo attack.
BONUS ADVENTURE!
“Platypus Café”
On a kayaking expedition in Australia, the brothers encounter one of the world’s most unusual creatures: a platypus mother with her eggs. But unscrupulous endangered animal chef, Gourmand, plans on adding the platypus eggs to his menu. Chris and Martin must harness the special electromagnetic “sixth sense” of the platypus to save the eggs.
