When you have been shaving since the fifth grade like I have, then you’ve tried pretty much every razor there is on the market. I recently had the opportunity to try out the new Gillette Fusion ProShield razor. This was a special package from Sam’s Club which contained a razor and enough blades for nine months. I’ve used plenty of Gillette Razors in the past and those blades do last a long time. This time I’m going to be very careful about when I make my razor blade changes and see if I can make the package last as long as it says it will. I probably will because I make those blades last a long, long time.

In anticipation of this opportunity I stopped shaving. I really wanted to put the Gillette Fusion ProShield razor through its paces. I tend to shave only a couple of times each week and my facial hair grows very quickly. My razor needs to be able to handle the type of growth I may have on any given day.

I started by taking the Gillette Fusion ProShield razor and additional blades out of the special package from Sam’s Club. Then I got my face prepared by soaking it with hot water and then applying my shave gel. I go back and forth over whether or not I should shave before or after my shower. After a shower my face is the most prepared for a shave but then the gel ends up in my goatee and I have to do some additional intense face washing. If I shave before I shower then I can jump right into the shower and thoroughly wash off all the shave gel.  This means that there is less redundancy. Such dilemmas, I know.

Would the Gillette Fusion ProShield give me a great shave? I would have to get my face prepared and give it a try. Time to soak my face with hot water and lather up with shave gel.

I shaved one side of my face and then stopped to get this image. There was a big difference between both sides and I was so ready to finish with my whole face. The left side of my face was so smooth and I had no nicks and scrapes at all. The way that the Gillette Fusion ProShield  provides you with lubrication before and after the blades shields while you shave made a huge difference in my shave. I also liked the feel of the Flexball^TM and the ProGlide^® closeness of these thin blades.

In the end I had a clean, smooth, comfortable shave. My face felt great after I was finished and I felt like I could shave every other day with these new razors. I don’t like to shave every single day. I like to give my face some recovery time, especially my neck. The lubrication before and after the blades was excellent and left me very impressed. It provided such comfort that shaving daily may even be a possibility.
