Sunset on the Sea Crest Hotel Beach

Photo-A-Day #3742

We went to a very special dinner at the Sea Crest Beach Hotel today. I had read about the Old Silver Beach Shore Dinner in a local magazine. There I saw that they hold the dinner on the beach every Tuesday in July and August. The meal is a full spread for a New England Clambake and it also includes a free day at the Hotel and use of the beach and pools. We asked our friend Meghan is she wanted to meet us and we were so happy to hear that she could.

We picked up Eva after Science School and headed to the Sea Crest. When we got to the hotel we changed and made our way over to the beach. This was an excellent beach for the kids. The sand was soft and the water was so less rocky than any other beach we’ve been to except for our honeymoon in Aruba. We were able to walk out pretty far because of the sandbar and even though it was a pretty high tide when we arrived it was low by the time we headed to the pool. We were also able to use some lounge chairs and umbrellas.

There are two pools at the Sea Crest. One outdoors and the other indoors. We went into the outdoor one and the kids had even more fun. Andrew showed off his Jumping skills for everyone. Eva loved being able to stand and then swim around more and more. She also liked having her Frogglez and she didn’t take them off all day long.

When it was time for dinner we changed in the locker room. That is one thing that I would say was a drawback to this excursion. The locker room was very small for both the men and women. Changing and showering was a challenge to say the least. Then add Andrew to the mix and it was even harder. Everything else was so nice and this was a tiny bump in the day, not huge but also would have liked that to be easier.

Dinner was right on the beach at the end of the property. We were greeted by the head chef and his staff was excellent. Everyone we encountered from the guy who greeted us at the gate to the people who served dinner were so friendly. We sat with a couple from New Jersey who were up for the weekend. They had heard about the place and were enjoying their stay.

Lobster Clamboil

We enjoyed a traditional Lobster Boil. Both Allison and I received a mesh bag of Lobster, Potatoes, Chorizo Sausage, Corn on the Cob, Clams and Mussels. We also had cornbread and clam chowder. The food was excellent and the view was perfect. We ate and watched as the sun set.

I really wanted to go over to see the sunset because on our side of Falmouth we do not see the sunset as well as that side of Falmouth. It was a cloudy day but we got glimpses of the sun as it set. It was a perfect backdrop for sunset type images, though. We got a bunch of them. Here are so of the favorites. Many shot by our good friend Meghan!
