Last night I saw an 11 second commercial teaser for ROGUE ONE: A STAR WARS STORY which said that today the trailer would debut on Good Morning America. This morning I got up and downstairs just in time to watch it with Allison and Eva. They are the two biggest Star Wars fans in my life. They didn’t quite get what was going on and so I explained that Lucasfilm’s ROGUE ONE, which takes place before the events of Star Wars: A New Hope, tells the story of unlikely heroes who have united to steal plans to the dreaded Death Star. And from the looks of it there is a female lead who will be key to getting those plans.
The cast includes Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Ben Mendelsohn, Donnie Yen, Jiang Wen, Mads Mikkelsen, Alan Tudyk, Riz Ahmed, and Forest Whitaker. ROGUE ONE is directed by Gareth Edwards, produced by Kathleen Kennedy, Allison Shearmur, and Simon Emanuel, executive produced by John Knoll and Jason McGatlin, and co-produced by John Swartz and Kiri Hart.
You can see the trailer that debuted this morning below. It has so much to it and is already being dissected all over the Internet by those far more knowledgeable about Star Wars than myself. I was excited that I recognized Mon Mothma. Allison was excited to see Forest Whitaker.
ROGUE ONE: A STAR WARS STORY opens in theaters everywhere on December 16, 2016!
