This past weekend Allison and I went to the Cape. We spent a goodly amount of time at the beach, got lots of sun, sand and salt water. We both read a good deal from our respective books. I started on Deja Dead by Kathy Reichs and Allison read Firestorm by Nevada Barr.
Getting into a brand new author and new series is sometimes a slow start for me. It was in the case of this book. I was used to the character I knew from the TV show Bones and I find out that Dr. Temperance Brennan in the books is much different than the one from TV. So it took a little while to get into. But once I made it over the hump the book was much better to read. I will probably enjoy this series very much.
While at the Cape this weekend we had a couple of nights out on the back patio taking advantage of beautiful weather and the opportunity to cook outside. I certainly did not want to return home to the oppressive heat and no sea breeze. So we ended up staying at the house till 9:00 on Friday night and there was no way I was jumping on the computer. Nope we closed the bedroom doors and got the AC running to cool down the room and try and sleep. Sleep is so easy at the Cape we sleep so well there. The salt air, the water and the window fan put us right out and I’ve actually slept late while there. And I don’t mean late for me like 6:30 or 7:00 I mean 9:00 and 9:30, guess I needed it.
The garden around the patio has exploded in color. We have tons of different lilies and hydrangeas popping up all over the place. I couldn’t help taking more pictures of the garden.
