Ada Blackjack

Who is Ada Blackjack, well she is a survivor. Ada Blackjack survived on Wrangler Island in the Arctic for 2 years with poor weather conditions, poor food supply and for most of the time a man who was dying of scurvy as her only companion. She had to learn how to hunt, trap, shoot and face her fears. She was a tiny woman, an Eskimo (Inuit). And she was the only woman in this pack of adventurers and explorers. The men who went to Wrangler island were young healthy stout of heart men. They were adventurers and they were so young. The youngest was 19 when he left on the expedition. The oldest I think was 28. Ada was 23 or 25. I have been reading the book Ada Blackjack: A True Story of Survival in the Arctic. I am almost to the end. I enjoyed this book and would like to read The Ice Master: The Doomed 1913 Voyage of the Karluk and the Miraculous Rescue of her Survivors by the same author Jennifer Niven. This is actually a story about the same island but years earlier with some of the same people and their tale of survival. The story has been interesting and terrifying and sad. I like how Niven tells the story however. You may want to pick up these books to read sometime.
