Adult Egg Hunt Haul
Photo-A-Day #4387

Happy Easter. I hope that your Easter was as nice as ours was. We got up and the kids opened their baskets from the Easter Bunny. Then we got ready for church. That included baking some roasted potatoes. We got to church with the family and we were earlier than usual but that doesn’t mean anything on Easter. That means that you sit in the back on the folding chairs. If you want a seat you have to get their early, even for the 8am Mass.

After Mass we had the kids’ Easter Egg Hunt on the front yard and then a surprise for the adults. My sister Tara and her husband Erik put together an adult Easter Egg hunt and you can see my haul above. It was the first time that we had done this and it was really fun.

We had lunch and the kids opened more baskets. We took family photos and more. It was a nice day spent with family.

#Unboxing Skylanders Spring Edition Hard-Boiled Flare Wolf

Hard-Boiled Flare Wolf
Photo-A-Day #4342

I popped into Toys r Us today because Thursday’s offer a 10% discount for TRU credit card holders and I also had a $10 off coupon. So I took a look to see what they had. I found Hard-Boiled Flare wolf for Skylanders Imaginators. this is the Spring/Easter themed repaint of Master Flare Wolf, a character I really like.

I’m so very excited for the launch of the Nintendo Switch and even more excited because I received the Skylanders Imaginators Starter Pack for the Nintendo Switch from Activision. I’m just so excited to see how the game works on this new system. Unfortunately my Nintendo Switch is not arriving until next week. But until then you can enjoy this unboxing of Hard-Boiled Flare Wolf. Also, below I have more information on Skylanders Imaginators for the Nintendo Switch.

The Kids At Church
Photo-A-Day #4003

We had a very nice Easter today. I took last night off so that I could be awake for Mass instead of being comatose like I usually am on Sundays. I still managed to fall asleep a little and Andrew flat out napped. He got us up early asking to go downstairs. When we did get downstairs the kids opened their Easter baskets. I went a little overboard on them with things that I picked up over the past few weeks. That and things that were sent to me to review and more. So, even before Church they made out really well. Coloring books and sidewalk chalk some candy and more.

After Church we went over to my parent’s house where we had the Easter Egg Hunt. We did it inside this year. Four kids searching the living room and dining room for a whole mess of eggs. There were also 8 special eggs that were larger and shiny. They contained some candy and a Hot Wheels car. I picked up two for each of the kids. They all seemed to like getting those. Easter Basket Ideas with Mike and Ike

Our Easter Basket Ideas
Photo-A-Day #3998

With Easter coming this weekend it is time to start thinking about what to put inside your baskets. In our house we try to limit the overall amount of candy that is put into the kid’s baskets. However, you can’t go having a Easter basket without jelly beans and now Mike and Ike makes some great jelly beans. We received a bunch of these new jelly beans to check out and review. Opinions are our own. There are two flavors of the jelly beans: Assorted Fruit and Tangy Twister. There is also a limited-edition Mike and Ike box called Easter Treats.

Easter baskets also mean fun toys and games for the kids as well. I picked up some Crayola Sidewalk Chalk and some Color Alive coloring books. This way the kids have something to do other than to tear through a ton of candy.

Another thing that I have been doing ever since the kids were small was to hide Hot Wheels cars in eggs for the egg hunt. This year I picked up eight cars and eight large shiny eggs. This way each of the kids get 2 cars each (I’m including our niece and nephew in this as well). I explain more in today’s vlog.

More about the Mike and Ike flavors below.

Happy Easter 2015

Photo-A-Day #3649

Today was Easter. We celebrated at my parent’s house with my parents, Auntie Shelby, Uncle Time, Cousin Dylan and Cousin Kylie. We were even visited by the Easter Bunny. It was a nice day.

I got home from work and went right to my parent’s house to change. Allison and the kids were already there. Allison was already wrangling Andrew away from the living room because he was attempting to get in to look for eggs. No outdoor egg hunt this year because of the late snowfall and the very muddy yards. We got ready and went to 8am Mass. A good Mass to go to if you want to get a seat on Easter Sunday.

I think that Jimmy Fallon said it best when he said, “Thank you people who only go to church on Easter Sunday. You are the religious equivalent of flossing 10 minutes before visiting the dentist.”

After church we had a second mass that Eva gave. She read from her children’s bible stories book and sang a song. We were waiting for Dylan to wake up before letting the kids loose to search for eggs. Once he woke up the kids went and tore through the living room. There were a ton of eggs and the three kids (who are mobile) got to collecting. Eva cleaned up, because she’s the oldest and wasn’t taking the hint to slow it down and let the little guys get some eggs, but Andrew and Dylan did pretty well for themselves, too.

I got six Hot Wheels cars to put into the eggs this year. Maybe next year we color code the eggs so that each kid searches for their own set of colors. That way the disbursement of things like Hot Wheels is more fair. I’ve got to track down some larger eggs to hide more cars. Maybe I should label those ones with the kid’s names or something.

It was a very nice day and then we came home and I got to sleep for a while before dinner. This crazy schedule had me all over the place. Thank goodness I wasn’t going to work tonight.

Watch Your Eggs

Photo-A-Day #2914

Easter Sunday today and the kids were wonderful. They cooperated pretty well when we got them up early for Church. They behaved pretty well in Church (Andrew was a bit fussy and had to go outside a few times). After Church we went over to my parents for Easter Brunch and an Easter egg hunt inside the house and outside the house.

Last night Allison and I stuffed the eggs that we had with Hershey bunnies, Kisses, Reeses Peanut Butter cups and York Peppermint patties. We emptied all of the bags too. So we had a lot of eggs. We also set up the kids Easter baskets and a note from the Easter Bunny explaining that he hid the eggs at Mem and Grandfather’s because our “naughty kitties” would have moved the hidden eggs all night long.

While Eva drew pictures in the kitchen my Dad and I put out the eggs in the front yard. We pretty much littered the yard with them so that they were easy enough for Andrew to find. Continue reading Watch Your Eggs

Today was a wonderful Easter with the family. I got home from work and went straight to may parent’s house to drop off the Easter baskets and all of the eggs that I had filled the night before, at work. My co-workers asked if I was setting up an egg hunt for them. I think that maybe next year I get some big eggs and fill them with liquor nips and hide those around the office or outside for a 3am egg hunt. Continue reading Easter 2012

Review: Time to Hop into Easter

When Hop was in the movie theaters we took Eva to see it. She had already been to the movies once before and she liked it so we figured that this would be a cute movie for her to go and see. She enjoyed it and so did we, it was cute and silly and fun. Russell Brand was very funny as E. B. the son of the Easter Bunny with a dream to drum in a band. James Marsden as Frank, a slacker who loves Easter and who saw the Easter Bunny as a child also did a good job in the movie. But it was Hanz Azaria who got many of the best lines. We watched the movie again on Blu-ray and it was fun the second time around.

The Blu-ray has some very fun options including commentary by Hank Azaria as Carlos and games and so many other fun features. Here is the trailer and an exclusive clip of Phil’s Dance Party plus the Press Release.

Happy Easter 2011

Photo-A-Day #2207

Today was a wonderful Easter. We were up early and off to 8:00am Mass. Eva sat with Auntie Tara and Uncle Erik and Memere. Allison and I sat two pews up with Grandfather. It was a nice Mass and Fr. Dave’s homily was entertaining and informative. After Mass I took a photo of Eva with my cameraphone and sent it to Mimi and Grandpa Dano’s Kodak Pulse wi-fi enabled Digital Photo Frame. I also posted it to Facebook. She was so cute. Continue reading Happy Easter 2011

Gulp!

Photo-A-Day #2199

We had a nice little day today. It started off with Allison taking Eva to dance and then Eva spending much of the day with Aunt Corrine. I recorded an episode of Road to Thin and I’m actually down a few pounds. After that Allison and I went over to drop off our signed Purchase & Sale letter and the deposit check. With that we have everything ready to go to get the mortgage. The closing date should be on or before June 30th. Why so long? We’re flexible and the seller is moving, she’s found a place but was waiting for us to sign the P&S before making her offer. Continue reading Gulp!
