Get Your Copy of Jake and the Never Land Pirates: Battle for the Book!

Photo-A-Day #3570

We received a copy of Jake and the Never Land Pirates: Battle for the Book on DVD to watch and review. Opinions are 100% our own.

Eva and I sat down to watch this DVD because she is a fan of Izzy from Jake and the Never Land Pirates. Izzy has always been her favorite character. Even after watching the show Eva does some pretend play as Izzy. At this point in the series Jake and the Never Land Pirates have met a lot of people who are part of the Never Land mythos. They have met Peter Pan and Tinker Bell and now they I think this is the first time that Wendy and John and Michael have been on the show. The basic story to this episode is that Jake and his pals are recruited by none other than Peter Pan to help Wendy and the Darling children when Captain Hook steals Wendy’s book of stories about Never Land.

The episode is a good one with lots of fun where the “puny pirates” are working together to help save the book from Captain Hook. Captain Hook does not like hearing himself portrayed as a bumbling oaf and that is why he sets off to steal Wendy’s Book. Through the course of the story we learn that it is Wendy’s book that is keeping their stories including Captain Hook’s story alive. Without the book then their stories cannot be told or shared.

The DVD also contains additional 4 additional episodes plus 10 cartoon shorts, “Jake’s Never Land Pirate School” and an exclusive pirate bandana that doubles as a checkerboard. You’ve to to pass the time sailing on Bucky or the Jolly Roger somehow. Why not play some checkers.

Here are some fun activity sheets that you can print out and play.

Review: Disney Pirates of the Caribbean Costume Collection

Almost a couple of weeks ago I was offered the opportunity to try out some pirate costumes to celebrate the release of PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: ON STRANGER TIDES Available on Blu-ray 3D & Blu-ray Hi-Def Combo Pack! I jokingly asked my contact if they had a “pregnant serving wench” costume. And you know what, they did. Actually it is a Mommy to be Pirate costume. There was a fun, all black pirate costume for me and an adorable little buccaneer costume for Eva. While these were not costumes that looked like those from the characters of the movie they were actually pretty nice.

Mine came with a bandanna, belt, boot coverings, wrist gauntlets and a decent shirt. Allison’s came with pants w/boot covers, shirt w attached vest and hat. Eva’s came with Shirt w attached vest, Hat, headband, belt and boot covers. Other than Allison’s costume being a “One size fits all” that should probably have been a “one size fits many” the costumes fit pretty well.

Review: Pirates of the Caribbean on Stranger Tides DVD/Blu-Ray Combo Pack

We gave away six copies of the Pirates movie at our Pirate Pizza Party last night.

On October 18th Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides was released on DVD, Blu-Ray and Movie Download. This is the fourth installment in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise and stars Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow a wily and flamboyant pirate who manages to get himself into and out of tons of trouble. I’ve enjoyed the Pirates movies ever since the very first one came out. That one was by far the best in the series because it was visually stunning, had a great cast and a fun story. With the second movie things went downhill and the third was really hard to follow because of the plot holes. However, with the fourth movie I think that things have gotten back on track. The movie is loosely based on a novel called On Stranger Tides. Captain Jack Sparrow was written into the story and the usual mayhem ensues. Pirates of the Caribbean Piratical Halloween Pizza Party

Photo-A-Day #2392

Tonight we had friends over for a pirate pizza party. Why was it pirate themed, you ask? Well, for many reasons. First of all Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides came out on DVD and Blu-Ray and Movie Download on the 18th and I have a review to write on that movie. I was sent pirate costumes to review and I was sent a pirate party pack and 6 copies of the Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides DVD to throw a pirate themed party. So it being near Halloween I figured we do a bunch of these at the same time and have a Pirate Pizza Party with friends. Continue reading Pirates of the Caribbean Piratical Halloween Pizza Party

Arr, Me Treasure Ye Not Be Stealin’

Photo-A-Day #2391

Eva is getting ready for our Pirate Pizza Party tomorrow. I picked up a bunch of candy to put in the treasure chest pinata. Now I just have to figure where to secure it so the kids can bash it to pieces to get the sugary goodness inside. Well, I figure it out. Eva was very excited to help with this task. After it was done we had to sing and dance around it like Jake and the Never Land Pirates do. Which is appropriate because that is what the kiddos are going to watch tomorrow and the parents will get copies of Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides on DVD and Blu-Ray. Review: Jake and the Never Land Pirates

Jake and the Never Land PiratesJake and the Never Land Pirates is one of the cuter shows to come out of Disney Junior in a while. Eva, who had a hangup about Captain Hook being scary (Thanks Mom for showing her the terrifying 1930 play on a shakey old vcr tape) is totally in love with this series. The show centers around Jake, a young pirate kid, his friends Izzy and Cubby. They have a magical pirate ship named Bucky and a talking parrot named Skully and how they solve pirate problems. In each episode Captain Hook and Smee attempt to steal things from the “puny pirates”. Captain Hook also have a couple of crew members Sharky and Bones. They are not only pirates but provide fun music in the episode. We have a fun time watching this show together. It has made her stop being afraid of pirates.
