Get Ready for #BratsGiving Sunday August 16th

This Sunday is BratsGiving. It is a special day where you celebrate the gift of Johnsonville Brats. Johnsonville sent us a gift card and coupons to pick up supplies for a party. Tonight we had our friends over to try out one of the delicious recipes from the Johnsonville Grillers website.

Beer Bath Brats and Steakhouse Grillers

We decided on the Lasagna on a Bun Burger. This was one delicious recipe. The recipe calls for the sweet Italian Grillers but instead we used the Steakhouse Onions instead. Allison made up the cheese mixture and more ahead of time. She also toasted up the French Bread so that once I grilled the Steakhouse Onion patties they would be ready to slide on the bread. Game Day Johnsonville Brat-A-Peños

I’ve never been a huge fan of basketball. Well, not since Larry Bird left the court. So, I’m not quite sure if people have March Madness parties but I do love party food. When Johnsonville approached me, as part of the Big Taste Grillers, to come up with a recipe for some Game Day food, I said sure. I decided to create a variation of the jalapeño popper recipe that use when I make bacon wrapped jalapeños (Which I got from Average Betty). However, instead of wrapping the jalapeños in bacon I’m going to mix cream cheese and a Johnsonville Brat (Grilled up yesterday) together as filling for the jalapeño and then cover it with shredded cheese, cook it up in the oven and let the cheese melt and the cream cheese/brat mixture heat up for some hot apps for Game Day. Andrew is an eating machine these days. He put away half a chicken breast the other night and tonight he was putting away some baked beans like they were going out of style. Were they ever in style? Maybe, we like them. Either way Andrew’s favorite seat these days is his high chair so that he can eat. He’s a great eater and an adventurous one. He’s gone from eating those squeezable baby foods to eating mushed up meals of what we are eating to already making use of those 4 teeth of his and eating what we are eating. He loves his food.

Speaking of food today I put together our new Weber Performer Grill. I won this from Johnsonville Big Taste Grillers and am looking forward to grilling up some brats on the new grill.

Newest Addition to the Johnsonville Grill Greats Blogger Panel

A Little over a week ago I got an e-mail asking me to be part of the Johnsonville Grill Greats Blogger Panel. I’ll be part of a group of roughly 10 other bloggers/online ambassadors who will get to sample Johnsonville products, participate in some fun contests (many that you can participate in including giveaways) and I’ll have some great grilling tips. The panel will be starting soon as grilling season begins.

I received a welcome packet including a grilling mitt, apron, cooler (that will be great for work or transporting Johnsonville Brats to other BBQs). I also got some coupons for Brats and Johnsonville Bratwurst patties. I may also get to attend some food events on Johnsonville’s behalf which may include the Beer Bloggers Conference in Indianapolis in July 2012 or National Bratwurst Day in Sheboygan, Wisconsin in August. Personally I think that Brat Days would be more my sort of thing. Don’t get me wrong I like beer, I just don’t drink it much these days.

So look for some videos, interviews, contests and more to be found on BenSpark.com in the coming year.

Oh and the Johnsonville Brats I grilled up tonight were a big hit. They were the original flavor. Eva saw that I had two and Allison had two and promptly asked where her second one was. And she would have eaten a second too.
