Day two of Blog World Expo. I walked over to the Expo again. I’m cheap and need the exercise. I wanted to get there to see Peter Shankman’s super session. It was good, as always Peter is a master storyteller. He’s entertaining to listen to and he’s so very quotable. I talked with him for a bit after the session and remarked on his A year to 10 percent which was amazing. He was on an episode of Road to Thin with us before we imploded. Can You Really Dream Big?
I’ve been being challenged lately. Challenged to go after what makes me happy. Challenged to face financial realities. Challenged to push my comfortable limits. But I don’t see myself facing those challenges.
Incentive
I’ve been thinking a lot about what drives people to do things in their life. Are they motivated by fame, money, fear… What is the incentive for me to get out of bed at 5:00am each morning and drive an hour to work, get in a 20 – 30 minute workout, work an 8 1/2 day and drive another hour home. It is basically a 12 hour day with about 20-30 minutes of productive time for self. I’m really thinking hard about what incentive there is to do that day in and day out. Continue reading Incentive
Wishing and Hoping

Photo-A-Day #2097
You know what they say about wishes right… You can wish in one hand and crap in the other, see which one fills up first.
I’ve been thinking a lot about wishing and hoping lately. Or rather, I’ve been doing a lot of wishing and hoping, which isn’t actually doing anything. Lot’s of non-action happening around here.
Night Roses
Tonight Allison, Eva and I headed down to the Cape. It was pouring much of the way and the traffic was not good so we were bumper to bumper the whole way. We got down to the Cape late and by the time we got there it was dark and I hadn’t taken a photo. Rather than take a photo inside the house I decided to try and take a shot outside, in the dark, without a tripod. It had stopped raining and so I ended up using a fence post for a tripod, it still wasn’t that steady but I did end up getting this shot out of the many I took. Continue reading Night Roses
Stargazer Lilies
Allison is a big fan of these stargazer lilies. They are not her favorite flower, those would be lilacs. Continue reading Stargazer Lilies
Chalk, Walk, Good Talk
Allison and I are big TV fans, we spend many nights watching TV as I write my blog posts. We are fans of all sorts of shows and the DVR is a magical device in our home. It is great for keeping some of Eva’s favorite Mickey Mouse Clubhouse shows and we use it to capture our favorite shows and specials that we’d love to watch again. Sometimes we get behind on the shows and have a little DVR cleaning night where we clear out everything. Continue reading Chalk, Walk, Good Talk
Time Ripens Quickly
These blackberries are so tempting. The thing is they grow at the edge of the driveway and right in the spot where Uncle Mike sits in his running car (believe me we’ve tried to get him to stop) so these blackberries have been fed on runoff, exhaust fumes and god knows what else. But they look so good. Although these ones were crawling with some sort of ants and that dropped the appeal factor way down. Continue reading Time Ripens Quickly
No Cygnets in Sight
We’ve got swans at work. The swans recently had cygnets. For the past couple of months there have been warning signs around the pond stating that the swans are aggressive, I took a walk around the pond and got the intimidation from the swans, when you can hear them power paddling up behind you it is intimidating. I figured I’d go for a walk today and try and get some shots of the cygnets. They are nowhere to be found. They weren’t out paddling around with their parents. I didn’t get too close however because as I got closer this swan perked up saw me and beelined it to the side of the pond closest to me. I got the message loud and clear. Continue reading No Cygnets in Sight
Praying for… Santa?
At work today a friend of mine brought in cupcakes. The cupcakes had these cute little plastic rings shaped like little plastic mittens. When I got home today I gave them to Eva to play with. Then I tried to take pictures of her hands. A two year old cannot hold their hands still for more than 0.3 seconds, it is a scientific fact I just made up. At first I got frustrated that she wouldn’t hold her hands still. As I followed her hands and got more comfortable in the process of enjoying her enjoying playing with the rings I ended up with some pretty sweet shots.
