Tree Face

Photo-A-Day #3591

I met with my daughter’s school today about establishing a photography club. I met with the principal and the art teacher. I’ll be working with the art teacher once a week after school vacation. I’ll be teaching the kids the basics of photography and they will get to work hands on with some of the Samsung cameras that I have in my collection plus the two that I got specifically for the photo club. I traded two of my DSLR cameras for two Samsung NX30 cameras. So we have two SLR cameras with 18-55mm lenses. I’m also going to use the Learn and Master Photography program as supplemental materials and also do hands on sessions. I am very excited for this to start.

When I was leaving the school I saw this tree and it really looked like a face to me.

Sponge Painting

Photo-A-Day #3590

I received a special package from PBS Kids about the Curious George Valentine’s Day show. We got some sponges and a DVD of the episode. We also received a cute Curious George book. Andrew loved reading the book with me because it has flaps that he can open and close. I’ll do a write up about the episode soon. Today we tried to make the special heart sponge that George makes in the episode but the sponge was wet and so I couldn’t tape it together so I tried to glue it and let it dry out. It still did not stick together properly. I may have to use a hot glue gun to do it next.

Painting with Andrew is an interesting thing. He’s still too little to understand cleaning brushes and after I placed small piles of each of the paint colors he immediately swirled them all together. It actually worked out pretty well for sponge painting. When the paint is all mixed up like Andrew made it he was able to make a bunch of cool sponge impressions. I am looking forward to making some Valentine’s cards with him soon, once I get that sponge heart made.
