The Fourth Of July 2017

Each year we head down to the Cape for the Fourth of July. There is a neighborhood parade and fireworks right off the beach. Some years we have family over, too. In the past this has been a very big event with lots of people. This year was very low key at the house. On the beach, however, it was one of the most packed years I have ever seen. There were people everywhere on the beach, in the water and just everywhere. We spent some time at the beach enjoying the water and playing in the waves. the kids used their boogie boards and played with their cousins and had a great time.

We left the beach and went to the neighborhood parade. Eva sang America the Beautiful and did an amazing job (see the video below). Andrew told his egg joke.

“How did the egg cross the road?” “He scrambled!”.

Then we walked the parade route and went by my friend Jonathan’s house. They have one of the best Fourth of July displays around and then they go and throw candy tot he people in the parade. Good candy, too. It was nice to see him. I took a nice photo of he and his family.

Then it was back home to have some lunch and relax because fireworks were going to be shot off from a barge at the beach later tonight. We also went back to the beach because it was a very hot day. The kids played with some brand new boogie boards that I got them at 5 Below. They had so much fun. The weather was amazing.

In the late afternoon we had a cookout with everyone including my grandfather. He came over to eat but left before the fireworks. We usually watch the fireworks right on the beach. I set up my tripod and take photos through the app on my phone that connects to my camera. At least it used to do that, but now it doesn’t work right. So I brought the tripod down lower and had to shoot by pressing the shutter physically. That’s fine and all but I kept doing it just to get a couple of good photos. I’ve done better in other years. the though thing about these, too was that there are power lines in the way and while I missed them once in a while I hit them more often than not. I did get a couple of good ones, though. You can see some of the fireworks in today’s video.

July 4th Eve on the Cape

We headed down to the Cape today for the Fourth of July Holiday. It has been a while since we’d been down to the house and I was looking forward to getting there. I was looking forward to getting away from the humidity at home.

I could not sleep today. I tried but it just wasn’t happening. So, I had a headache and at the same time was exhausted. Instead I played some Legend of Zelda because I am addicted to this game and am working on the Master mode, which means playing the game all the way through again. It is way harder this time around. I really miss having all the power I had the first time through or at least what I had once I hit 100%.

We had a nice dinner as a family. Eva created an appetizer plate for everyone and we had fish including swordfish. It was delicious and nice to have the whole family around. It was also nice to be right there at the beach.
