Photo-A-Day #4507
Today we went to Westport to visit with one of Allison’s former co-workers. We were there to see her and to go to the beach as well. We went over to the Cherry and Webb beach. This was our first time at this beach and it was so different from the one that we are used to. The sand there was that really fine, fine sand. There were hardly any rocks at all but there were a ton of quahog clam shells. The kids went on two walks with Allison’s friend and we came home with a ton of shells. A ton of shells. I stupidly thought that we would have less weight to carry back from the beach since we had a cooler full of drinks and drank almost all of them, nope. Quahog shells.
The beach was really fun because it had big waves. The kids loved playing in the waves and while I enjoyed it, it was a big stressful because of the strong undertow. Andrew and Eva kept ending up further away and I had to go after them. Luckily there were no frocks and it was pretty shallow so I could get after them quickly enough. They were having such a great time, too. They had fun with a boogey board and playing in those waves over and over. I think we were in the water for at least 2 hours.
It was also good sand for making sand castles. A bit wet and packed easily into buckets. Andrew and I made some castles while Eva was on walk number 1. We enjoyed lunch there as well.
After the beach we headed to Handy Hill Creamery for ice cream. They serve Bliss Bros. Ice Cream, which is right around the corner from us. It was a nice stop until Andrew dropped the cup part of his ice cream cone and cup combo, face down. There were tears, but he had not been listening to us to have a seat and eat. He had some ice cream left on the cone and so that is what he had. It was tough for me not to go and get him another ice cream.
