Photo-A-Day #4556
Just Play has been really awesome to us lately and they sent along the PJ Masks Rival Racers Track Playset for free for us to play with and review. This just so happens to coincide with the release of PJ Masks Season One on Netflix and I am a Netflix #StreamTeam member. So, opinions on all are my own.
Andrew loves PJ Masks. He often will yell Catboy speed and go running across the yard at full tilt. I’m excited for him because the PJ Masks toys are pretty sweet and he has already fallen in love with them. We received the Rival Racers Track Playset from Just Play and we’ve had it in the box for a little while. We just haven’t had the time to actually play the game so it sat. Well, I had some time with Andrew last night and we opened it together. Just Play sent us the playset but I picked up a Gekko and an Owlette basic figure because you need the whole team, right? Right. The basic figures are slightly smaller than the Catboy figure in this set. You can see that in this image.
The Rival Racers Track is nice. It is easy to put together, even for kids. The pieces slide together and fit tightly but not so tightly that Andrew cannot pull them apart to reconfigure the track. The set comes with Catboy and his Cat-Car vehicle. It also comes with Night Ninja’s Bus. Kids can send either of the vehicles over a jump or through a loop-the-loop. The Cat-Car only works with Catboy, the vehicle is specially molded to the figure’s proportions. I tried using the additional figures that I bought in the Cat-Car but they don’t fit right. The sending the cars through the loop is really loud. It also took a few tries to figure out the right amount of pressure needed to get the Cat-Car through the loop and them up the hill and to the finish line. We found that slamming down on the launcher with one hand didn’t work but quick even pressure with two hands almost always did the trick.
Andrew was quite excited to play with this set and even more excited that it is a toy that he can have in his room. Although he cannot play it until everyone gets up since the launchers are super loud especially when he slams them down to launch the vehicles.
Before he gets to playing with the toys, though, he can watch PJ Masks on Netflix because Season One has just been added! If you are unfamiliar with PJ Masks let me explain what it is all about. The series originally debuted on Disney Junior and follows three 6-year-olds: Connor, Amaya and Greg who are kids by day and superheroes at night. When they put on their pajamas and activate their animal amulets, they transform into their superhero alter egos—Catboy, Owlette and Gekko—and go on adventures, defeat evil villains, solve mysteries and learn valuable life lessons. I’ve watched it a number of times with Andrew and he loves it, I like that he watches it and learns from it, too.
There are additional vehicles and playsets for PJ Masks and they all look really decent. I beleive that the basic vehicles that hold the 3 inch figures will also work on this track and there is even a PJ Masks Headquarters playset! Also, if you’d like to know exactly what is in this set here is he official description from the Just Play Site.
