Each year we are so fortunate to receive so many toys and games to play with and review. I am so happy that the bulk of what I post now has to do with Toys and video games and how we are having fun with them. We often get so many toys that we just can’t review. We get them from events or shows and we get them from special boxes that were sent for review and they included way too many toys for us. So we gather them all up in the basement all year through and each year in December we pack them all up and display them on the stairs. Then we re-pack them efficiently to bring the donations off to the Christmas is for Kids donation center.
This year we did the stairs photo and then packed everything up in the car. We went to Target to do a special shopping trip. This trip is where we use money that we save all year long. It is important to us that the kids help select toys for the kids and they see how this process works. It is also important that they see how they can help other children through their actions. Andrew received money for his birthday and he asked if he could use a large sum of it to buy toys for Christmas is for Kids. That was very generous of him, we did not let him because we already had about $600 in donations. His gesture, however, shows his kind heart. Last night we went to the Boch Center Shubert Theatre to see A Charlie Brown Christmas Live on Stage. We were given press passes to attend the performance in order to review it. The show is at the Boch Center Shubert Theatre for a very limited engagement. In fact, tomorrow December 2 is the last day that the show will be there. So, if you want to get tickets and see the show today or tomorrow you can get them at Boch Center Tickets. There are 8 showings left. Four today and four tomorrow. The tickets are also inexpensive to see this show so it is a good family Christmas event.
Driving to boston is always a crazy thing for us. Getting out of school and getting something to eat in time for a 7pm show can be a bit tricky. Tonight was our closest call yet. We arrived and got to our seats right as the very first words were being spoken by Charlie and Linus at the snow covered wall.
The Shubert Theatre is a beautiful one and a great place to see a show. We were seated very quickly since we were almost the last people in the building (we were the last ones out, more on that later). Seats are fairly comfy and we had great views of the stage. I love how the band was made up of Schroeder, Shermy and PigPen. Schroeder and his piano was on one side of the stage and Shermy (on bass) and Pigpen (on drums) on the other. The sets were taken right out of the cartoon version of A Charlie Brown Christmas. They were even painted to have that authentic Charles M. Schulz look. It is a simple style, yet so iconic.
