DreamWorks She-Ra and the Princesses of Power Celebrates International Women’s Day

Eva and the finished She-Ra sword

We are big fans of She-Ra and the Princesses of Power in this house. That goes for everyone including Andrew and myself. It is important that there be a show like this for both of my kids because of the content of the show. Women can be brave and powerful and men can be there to support and not just be the hero coming in to save them. The folks at DreamWorks sent me a special video with the cast of She-Ra and also the executive producer Noelle Stevenson that was made for International Women’s Day. I watched it this morning and hat to share it with both of the kids. It think it is pretty powerful. Take a look.

The video also features Aimee Carrero (Adora/She-Ra), Lauren Ash (Scorpia), Marcus Scribner (Bow), Karen Fukuhara (Glimmer), Merit Leighton (Frosta), and Krystal Joy Brown (Netossa). I loved the discussion of the young girls in the video and also how important it was that Bow was represented and discussed his role as a character in the show. That was important for Andrew to hear.

There is a much larger discussion to be had around this show and the themes and idea. Luckily I have a set of great activity sheets to stimulate discussion.

National Cereal Day 2019

National Cereal Day
Photo-A-Day 2.0 #00066

Each year I like to do something for National Cereal Day. For the past few years I’ve worked with General Mills Cereals to celebrate. Even earlier this year they sent me some great packages. However, there was no word from them for this year’s event. I certainly hope that our relationship continues because I have enjoyed trying out the new cereals and making fun recipes. It has been a fun run and if it is over completely then so be it. I will miss working with them and have enjoyed it very much.
