Back when Skylanders was a big deal and back when I was working with Activision to promote the brand I was given a code to create my own Skylander. I have not played any Skylanders in such a long time. So many other games have been taking up my time and since I played through all of Skylanders, all 5 games and the Nintendo DS games as well I just haven’t gotten back into it. I am thinking about packing them all away again and using the display cases for some of my Transformers collection instead. That way I can clean and dust and then reset things. It may also motivate me to start listing some Transformers for sale. Not my originals or anything and nothing too special but probably the ones I picked up when I was doing a lot of Transformers buying in the late 90’s early 2000’s.
Playmobil sent me their latest retro toy, the Magnum, p.i. Ferrari 308 GTS Quattrovalvole playset to review. Playmobil has been doing a great job making different sets for many of the classic shows that I’ve enjoyed in my childhood. Most of the shows have iconic vehicles in them like K.I.T.T. from Knight Rider and the A-Team van. Magnum, p.i.’s Ferrari 308 GTS Quattrovalvole is also quite iconic. Who from my generation can still see that car cruising around Hawaii as Magnum got up to his antics. This show ran from 1980 to 1988 and I was 6 when the show debuted. That is probably why I never got into watching it. I probably would have enjoyed it because I liked so many other shows of that genre at that time.
Despite not watching the show I do know much about it and was excited that Playmobil made this playset. The iconic Ferrari 308 GTS Quattrovalvole from the classic 80s TV crime series Magnum, p.i. Set also includes the main characters from the series: Thomas Magnum, T.C., Rick and Higgins. Magnum has his signature Dodgers baseball cap, Higgins has a Playmobil parrot. Each character can also use the Playmobil walkie talkie, binoculars and camera. there is even a coconut tree to complete the island feel.
the set is retailing at $79.99 and a must have for collectors who are fans of the 1980s and specifically Magnum, p.i..
