Photo-A-Day #2196
Tonight Allison and I did our first Barefoot Books event outside of our home. We did a combination sales night/fundraiser for the early Learning Center. This is a local school that we were considering sending Eva to but changed to a different school (good thing too because we are moving and she wouldn’t have been able to go anyway). Our friend Adrienne connected us with the school and we got in as the book seller for their parent’s night event. Allison set up a big board with wishlists of the teachers so that parents could buy books for the teacher’s classrooms. Parents could pull off a star and bring it to Allison and she’d process the book. We also straight up sold books at the event and a portion of the proceeds went to the school’s PTO. In all I think everyone made out very well and we met many new people.
Before we went over there, I went by the house that we are buying. My dad had lined up an electrician and a plumber to come to the house and check it out. My mom and my sister also came over to check out the place. I met the owner of the house and got to talk with her about the house and the neighborhood and some of my concerns. I was able to ask her if she’d consider leaving the Nancy Drew books behind for Eva. It sounds like she’s downsizing in her retirement so she was happy to leave them for her.
the house is in great shape, looks like we might have to replace the gas furnace soon but that is not a deal breaker. There is some clean up that needs to be done to the wiring in the basement but again that is not too terrible either. Overall things are looking good. Now we go down the paperwork rabbit hole.
Congrats again on the house. Glad to hear there aren’t any major concerns!!
So happy to hear the event was successful for you guys!!!!!
Adrienne,
Thank you and thank you very much for connecting us with the ELC. We had a very nice evening at the event.
I’m so excited for your family. And I love the “paperwork rabbit hole” image because that is exactly what it is. Since we did it a year ago and just had to do taxes, it seemed like the rabbit hole was never ending!
Also, it looks like Barefoot books are amazing! Glad you had this opportunity and I wish you many more.
Alli,
Thank you. The Barefoot Books have been such a welcome addition to our family. We love the books and selling them has been fun.
The paperwork rabbit hole is getting a little better now that I gave our stack of stuff to Jerry.
