We received a copy of Say the Word, a Cooperative game from Peaceable Kingdom. Opinions of the game are 100% our own.
When I was at Toy Fair 2014 I stopped by the Peaceable Kingdom booth. I love stopping there because there are always fun new games to play. This time I got a chance to play “Say the Word” and it was a whole lot of fun. Think, Memory meets Telephone meets silly stories and you have “Say the Word”.
We were intending to try and play this game on Saint Patrick’s Day but it was too chaotic to try and play a game that night. So the game was in the review queue for a while until Eva and I had a spare moment where Andrew was occupied, thanks Allison. Then we could play the game together and despite it being for ages 10 and up and for 3 or more players we had a great time making up a super silly story with this game.
The game is simple to play so I’d think it would be good for players younger than the recommended ages. To play you choose a character and then pick three word cards. The first player starts off the silly story with a sentence using one of their three words. Then the next person repeats the first person’s story and adds another line. This continues along until you can’t recall the whole story or you fill up the word board and can recall the whole story from start to finish. Don’t worry if you can’t remember because you can ask for clues from your teammates.
I liked the game because it has the potential to be very, very funny. Laughter and gameplay should go hand in hand. I know that Eva and I laughed like crazy while playing.
