Today was a great day! Allison and I drove down to Foxwoods Casino to meet up with my sisters and their husbands because we were seeing Rock of Ages! Allison and I saw the show in Boston and after it was over I immediately wanted to see it again and I thought that it would be a great show to take my sister’s to see because the music that was part of the show was the music of our childhood. My sister was a die-hard Poison fan and she even has her original jean jacket and pins for the band plus a tour shirt from 1989 and her ticket stub from her second show. So this was a perfect show for her. We bought tickets for my sisters and their husbands to go and see the show on the weekend before my 45th birthday. So we combined Christmas and birthday all into one. It made for a great time.
When we arrived we caught up with Tara and Erik. We got into our room to have some downtime and then met back up with them to have dinner at Cedars. We hung out in the lounge and met up with Shelby and Tim. Cedars is a really nice steakhouse and they had excellent food. I got the braised Short Ribs and Allison the Filet. We ate our fill and made it just in time for the opening of the show. Dinner was filled with great conversation and fun. I enjoyed it so much.
The show was excellent as we had remembered it. I am so happy that everyone else enjoyed the show, too. I got myself a special geek themed T- shirt for the event. It is a riff on the Guns and Roses Appetite for Destruction t-shirt but with the Constructicons that form Devastator. The shirt says Appetite for Construction
After the show we got someone to take our photo at the Fox Theater. There was a Rock of ages stand up sign at the Boston show but not here. I would have liked a photo with that but this one was nice with everyone together.
The funny thing is that when I posted these photos on Facebook everyone started my birthday week off and wished me well and a Happy Birthday early. It was nice. What was also nice is that I won at the Casino. I normally put aside $20 o play on the slots. I play just that $20 and I’m done. There was a medieval looking slot machine and I popped my $20 into it and sat down. 3 spins into it and I hit for a bunch of free games. It was a penny machine but I ended up walking away $30 richer. We then listened to some karaoke and had a nightcap then all went off to bed. Everyone leaving at different times in the morning so this was goodbye.
It was a great time and my sister Tara suggested that we try and figure out some sort of trip like this together each year. I think that is a great idea.
