We received a free copy of the new cookbook by Tara Theoharis, Minecraft: Gather, Cook, Eat! Official Cookbook for review. Opinions are my own.

When your kids are into Minecraft and also have a passion for the kitchen it is a total no brainer to pick up Minecraft: Gather, Cook, Eat! Official Cookbook. I was asked if I wanted to review this and I jumped at the chance because my son loves both cooking and Minecraft. Andy got a whole night to showcase their cooking talents (with some help from Allison). Andy made 4 things from the cookbook. We were able to enjoy 3 of them tonight and tomorrow we will get to enjoy the fourth item.

Chicken Jockey Sandwich

For our main course Andy made the Chicken Jockey Sandwich. This was a chicken breast sandwich on a brioche bun with provolone and bacon plus tomato and lettuce. You could also add pesto to the sandwich. I’m not a big fan of pesto but I did add a little. I enjoyed it more without the pesto. But that is personal preference.

Inventory Bread

Andy also made inventory bread. This was an ambitious selection. The bread is a take on monkey bread that you can pull apart. With Inventory Bread you make little individual rolls that can represent the various materials found in Minecraft. Andy chose Wool, Oak Planks and also one bread that used everything seasoning. Not sure what that would correspond to in the Minecraft world. The bread was delicious and completely homemade.

Potion of the Turtle Master

after dinner we slowed it down a bit with a glass of Potion of the Turtle Master. This was essentially a chocolate shake with caramel and it can also include pecans. We did not have pecans to use but everything else. Also, Andy made the chocolate ice cream themselves using their Ninja Creami.

The cookbook is full color with a ton of recipes inspired by the Minecraft World. You can create an entire meal complete with drinks and desserts using this cookbook and there are even themed meals suggested for you inside. There is also a whole section for player notes. Andy already made use of this for more ideas that they have for upcoming recipes that they would like to create.
