Heading Home from Toy Fair 2020

Donut Day

Today was my last day at Toy Fair 2020. I packed up at the hotel and brought everything to the Javits Center. I went around to all of my meetings and then fell asleep in the press area. I entertained a couple of people with my head bob sudden freak out that I had fallen asleep. I was beat by the end of the few days at the show. My feet were killing me but I still walked a ton.

It was great to get back to Toy Fair after all these years. It was nice to see so many people that I have worked with and then to make connections with a bunch of new ones as well. I ran into one of my oldest blogging friends and he connected me with two brands that I’ve wanted to work with. He’s always looking out for me and that is what a good friend does. He even gave me an idea for something new that I should start. I’ll be working on that soon.

I saw a bunch of great things but then it was time to catch the train and head home. I celebrated Fat Tuesday with some donuts from Krispy Kreme. They were delicious on the ride home.

New York Toy Fair 2020 – Day 2

Bearbarian

I’d like to thank Modarri for sending me to New York Toy Fair. It is the first time I have been able to be back in 4 years.

Today I took my gray Chalk of the Town t-shirt and made a pretty fun design on the front, way better than yesterday’s blue one. It is more of a graffitti look. I also wore the Modarri shirt that I was given so that I could record some Modarri content at the booth. I will have some videos soon. For some reason the wireless at the hotel will not allow me to upload my videos. I’m working on a work-around.

I had a few appointments to day to see Playmates Toys where they had Bearbarian from the upcoming Power Players line of toys. These are some fantastic toys and there is an interesting TV show on the way to Netflix in March, some content is already out there around this show and I can’t wait to watch it with Andrew.

I also went to the Moose Toys booth and discovered that they have license for Bluey. This is an adorable show out of Australia and Andrew and I watch it each morning before he heads to school. Sure it is for kids younger than he but the show is so entertaining. I love Bandit, Bluey’s dad. He’s a great dad. And he’s so funny. I got very excited seeing the different toys that they made for this line.

I also visited the Spin Master booth and they had some fantastic stuff for Batman and Monster Jam. I am going to look into taking Andrew to Monster Jam when it comes back this way. I think he’d really like it.

My last stop of the day was at LEGO and I wanted to see the upcoming Mandalorian set with a tiny figure of “The Child” – Baby Yoda. However when it came time to see this set guess who was missing? Yes, “The Child” was gone. It was out for some photo shoot or something. There were plenty of other great things happening with LEGO so it wasn’t a total loss. The City line has some new and innovative parts like flying helicopters and magnetic pieces. It was a fun day. I will put together some albums of photos from the days.

I also interviewed David Silverlight from Modarri and am processing the video now. I’ll add it to this post once it is published.
