Twice a week Allison and I help out with a program called BOKS. This is a morning fitness program for the kids at school. It is run by the parents. They used to have a portable Bluetooth speaker but apparently it stopped working. I was at Big lots and saw one that wasn’t too expensive. It also lit up and I thought that maybe it would have decent sound. However, the sound wasn’t as loud as I wanted it to be. I’m not sure if it was the music that I chose or the portable speaker itself. I may have to make a playlist before next Tuesday.
Building Block Press sent me a copy of the book Frankie’s Scared of Everything for free to read and review. They are also providing the giveaway prize. Opinions are my own.
Frankie’s Scared of Everything is a beautifully illustrated book about a young boy who’s overactive imagination is making it hard for him to sleep. The book was written and illustrated by Matthew Franklin who is a tattoo artist, painter, graphic designer, and musician. After receiving degrees in painting and photography from Miami University he immediately became a staple in the art scene in Columbus, Ohio where he currently resides. The story is one we have heard before in that a child cannot go to sleep because their imagination comes up with scary monsters that keep them up at night. What I found nice and refreshing is that the mom tells Frankie that everything that he thinks is a monster was once an idea in someone’s imagination. She also tells him that he has the power to determine whether or not the things in his own imagination will be scary or not. He can turn things around with his imagination.
