Today was my last day at Toy Fair 2020. I packed up at the hotel and brought everything to the Javits Center. I went around to all of my meetings and then fell asleep in the press area. I entertained a couple of people with my head bob sudden freak out that I had fallen asleep. I was beat by the end of the few days at the show. My feet were killing me but I still walked a ton.
It was great to get back to Toy Fair after all these years. It was nice to see so many people that I have worked with and then to make connections with a bunch of new ones as well. I ran into one of my oldest blogging friends and he connected me with two brands that I’ve wanted to work with. He’s always looking out for me and that is what a good friend does. He even gave me an idea for something new that I should start. I’ll be working on that soon.
I saw a bunch of great things but then it was time to catch the train and head home. I celebrated Fat Tuesday with some donuts from Krispy Kreme. They were delicious on the ride home.
I drove down to New York City today for the HoliDAY of Play. I’ve did this same thing last year but had a driving buddy. This time I did it on my own. The ride down was a little boring but I was way more awake on the drive back. I am not sure how that is possible. Getting down to New York has been very easy the last few times but this time my GPS sent me a different way and I ended up on the other side of the island. I still got there right on time. Just with a bit more hassle. No problem, it was a nice day to drive.
The HoliDAY of play is an event where the Toy Insider and the Pop Insider show off their top toys for the holiday season. There were a bunch of great things to see and I was able to chat with quite a few of the PR reps from the different companies that I have been working with for the past few years. I am able to take a look at the toys that I am going to recommend on my own Holiday Gift guide. This will be a video gift guide that I am doing in November. Be on the lookout for that!
I like this event because it is low key. I even put on my ugly sweater to get into the holiday mood. It was also very worthwhile to attend because I ended up winning a Nintendo Switch. Big gift for the kids is all set for Christmas!
