Each year we are so fortunate to receive so many toys and games to play with and review. I am so happy that the bulk of what I post now has to do with Toys and video games and how we are having fun with them. We often get so many toys that we just can’t review. We get them from events or shows and we get them from special boxes that were sent for review and they included way too many toys for us. So we gather them all up in the basement all year through and each year in December we pack them all up and display them on the stairs. Then we re-pack them efficiently to bring the donations off to the Christmas is for Kids donation center.
This year we did the stairs photo and then packed everything up in the car. We went to Target to do a special shopping trip. This trip is where we use money that we save all year long. It is important to us that the kids help select toys for the kids and they see how this process works. It is also important that they see how they can help other children through their actions. Andrew received money for his birthday and he asked if he could use a large sum of it to buy toys for Christmas is for Kids. That was very generous of him, we did not let him because we already had about $600 in donations. His gesture, however, shows his kind heart.
After our Target run we went to KC’s Classic Burger Bar for lunch. Time to support a local favorite. We had a fun lunch and the kids were their funny selves. We finished lunch and headed to the donation center. When we got there we brought in all the boxes and they gave us a tour of the facility. The kids saw where everything was sorted by the volunteers. The volunteers were sorting the donation that we brought in. We got to meet a bunch of people and tell them about the blog and how this was our tenth year of donating toys to Christmas is for Kids. It all started with one toy truck. We dropped off the toys and went home only for me to grab the two tricycles from the Super Mario Party campaign that I did with Nintendo a little while back. They were very excited to get two brand new tricycles for the program. I hope that many children are helped this year though the donations of the community.
