I was walking around Toy Fair back in February after trekking through super frigid temperatures. The last thing I wanted to think about was swimming. I came around a corner and the booth for Frogglez caught my eye. I stopped and talked with Joni for a while and learned all about them. We talked about me doing a review and so I was sent a pair for Andrew to try out. Opinions of these kids goggles are 100% my own.
I’ve been taking Andrew to swimming lessons for the past few sessions. He’s done so well and improved so much during that time. The last couple of classes I didn’t see any of the kids wearing goggles so I figured it wasn’t allowed. In his current class all the kids are wearing goggles so I figured it was the perfect time for Andrew to try out his Frogglez for the first time. He loved them.
Frogglez were developed by dad, dentist and entrepreneur who was frustrated with conventional swim goggles for his kids. Anyone who has kids know the frustration of having to adjust those plastic strap swim goggles that pull hair, slip down and leak. They turn into more of a hassle than something fun. Frogglez are most definitely not like the conventional swim goggles. The strap is a comfortable stretchy neoprene that is coated with a soft gentle fabric. They are designed to fit comfortably on a child’s head and even have a hole for ponytails. Adjustments are made with velcro straps that connect the neoprene strap to the goggle portion. Anyone who has attempted to adjust those plastic goggle straps knows ow much of a pain it is to get it right. I had Andrew up and wearing them practically right out of the box.
I was unsure if Andrew would like the Frogglez. He’s only 3 and attempting to put something on his head or eyes can be a challenge. There was no challenge here. He loved wearing them and I didn’t have to adjust them at all during his swimming lesson. I even put them on him as he was in the water and I was on the edge of the pool, because I was taking off the protective film from the lenses and I had already made him a little late because I took some photos. They went on smoothly and really impressed the swim teacher. I asked the teacher before class if he could wear them, she’s pretty easy-going and even though most of the time kids have some troubles with their swim goggles she said it was okay. After class she asked me about them and so did a few other parents. Now I’ve got to get a set of these for Eva because I know that when she sees them in action she’s going to want her very own as well. Luckily they are reasonably priced and come in a bunch of nice designs.

*If you look closely you’ll see that I had the Frogglez on Andrew upside down in all the photos except for today’s photo-a-day image. They still worked great for him, even upside down. They worked even better when I put them on him correctly this week.
