Going Undercover in LEGO City

Photo-A-Day #2937

I am completely enthralled with LEGO City Undercover. One of the reasons we got the Wii U was for LEGO City Undercover. I saw the trailer for it and I was hooked. It looked like an amazing game. I could not wait to get my hands on it. But, I had to wait because even though the Wii U came out last Fall this game only came out less than a month ago. Then just a couple of days ago the prequel to the game came out for the Nintendo 3DS. I finished the story mode of the Wii U version and was craving another story so I picked up the 3DS game LEGO City Undercover: The Chase Begins.

Prior to playing LEGO City Undercover I played Batman 2 on the Wii and didn’t like the game play on the wiimotes. I love the way LEGO City Undercover plays on the Wii U gamepad, though. I wish that I had held off on buying Batman 2 because it is coming out for the Wii U along with a LEGO Marvel Superheroes game. I’ll be preordering that game, which isn’t coming till New Years Eve. I may also trade in the Wii version of Batman 2 and pick up the Wii U version because if it plays anything like LEGO City Undercover it will be awesome.

I’ve enjoyed playing this game through the story mode and now I can explore the full city with a bunch of cool vehicles and disguises. There are a ton of mini-games to complete and goals to achieve plus places to go and find all of the different disguises throughout the whole city.

The same thing will happen with the Nintendo 3DS game. Once I finish the story mode I’ll be exploring the city in that game as well.

These are my first LEGO video games and I can’t wait to try out more of them.

Ride Along With Chase McCain on His First Assignment in LEGO® City Undercover: The Chase Begins

Explore LEGO City and Bring Gangs to Justice in the Nintendo 3DS Prequel to LEGO City Undercover on Wii U

REDMOND, Wash.–(BUSINESS WIRE)– Chase McCain is known by the thankful citizens of LEGO City as a legendary police officer. But where did his story begin? Every legend has to start somewhere. LEGO City Undercover: The Chase Begins, available now exclusively for the Nintendo 3DS™ system, is a prequel to the well-received LEGO City Undercover game for Wii U™. The story is set two years before the events of the Wii U game and follows Chase McCain as a rookie cop trying to prove himself in LEGO City.

“LEGO City Undercover: The Chase Begins builds on the same action-filled game play and humor of LEGO City Undercover for Wii U,” said Scott Moffitt, Nintendo of America’s executive vice president of Sales & Marketing. “Every member of the family can experience Chase’s exciting journey from rookie to legend, on the go with their Nintendo 3DS systems.”

Like any first day on the job, LEGO City Undercover: The Chase Begins starts off with Chase performing simple tasks such as retrieving doughnuts and looking for lost pets. But as the story progresses, Chase stumbles into something much more menacing: Different gangs start to cause trouble all over LEGO City, and it’s up to Chase McCain to put an end to their crime wave.

The story of LEGO City Undercover: The Chase Begins for Nintendo 3DS is based on the popular LEGO City play sets, and features various undercover disguises that Chase can collect and wear. These disguises grant him special abilities, as well as access to new areas in the game’s budding LEGO City. While investigating specific crimes in multiple missions, Chase will drive dozens of vehicles, engage in slick hand-to-hand combat with criminals and gather a wide variety of collectibles that can unlock bonus content.

Using the StreetPass™ feature of Nintendo 3DS, players can even share collectible items such as characters, vehicles and postcards with other Nintendo 3DS users who also own a copy of the game.
