Green Thumb Sunday
This week I can name the flower, but I took all the photos in a more abstract way. I love the size of this Mexican Giant Sunflower and got in very tight to get some detail. I also sprayed it down with some water because I just love water drops on flowers. Thanks so much for dropping by this Sunday. Leave a comment and let me know what you think.
I recently won a GizFolio from FuelMyBlog and the other day I picked 16 of my favorite photos for the freelance portfolio. I’d love to hear what you think of the ones I chose.
Very nice work on this set of photos. The level of detail you have captured in the zoom work is incredible.
Wonderful photos. I agree that water drops add a lot to flower photos. I love to see this type of work. Wish I could get some good macro shots myself.
Aiyana
I love the abstract photography as well as loving sunflowers. Your photography makes me look at things differently when I have my camera out and about. Thanks.
Sara from farmingfriends
Nice photos. I have macro envy.
I too posted a sunflower photo.
But it’s…a…much different.
Hi Drew,
This is a cracker, i really like this. The bit of blue just makes it that bit better.
Cheers Mark
I too like the water droplets
We love your sunflower pictures. The water drops really add to the pictures. Have a good GTS!
Sometimes I can just slap myself. When I want wet flowers, I wait for rain????
These are gorgeous. I love the really really close up shots. The double spirals in the flower are great and clear. Some days I want to print out shots like this and have my class trace the spirals. It’s great and fun and piques interest, but it ain’t in the curriculum.

Those photos make me want to grow sun flowers right now, but alas it’s Fall 🙁
I love these macro photos with the water droplets. They look like they could be in a magazine.
Wow That was so great never think a flower like this in dreams……little bit look like sun thaks for sharing.
Just try looking to the center of second photo.
What a wonderful pic…it makes me want to go out and buy a really expensive camera!!!
it looks so real its almost looks like it was made in some top end 3d applications really cool well done
Hey there Spanish Joe, Nice to see a face with all these comments that you have been leaving. Glad you liked how the photos came out.
Aiyana,
The biggest secret tot he macro is the tripod. It is the single best way I have been able to get these shots. Before the tripod my shots were no where quite as sharp and clean. Glad you liked them.
Thanks Sara,
I found that the more I looked at photos I liked from other photographers I tried to incorporate their style, I’m a big fan of Thomas Hawk’s stuff and he shoots amazing macro.
hi chigiy,
It is funny to hear that someone has macro envy, I want to be able to get in even tighter. I’ll be visiting your blog, can’t wait to see the sunflower.
Thanks Mark, I’m really happy that you like it, your photos have been some of my favorites and I’m grateful for the feedback that you give each week.
Thanks Lisa, I love water droplets on flowers, there is just something about it.
Chris and Laurie, thanks for the great comments. I checked out your blog and loved the butterfly photos.
Curriculum, I bet you can work it in in a creative way that incorporates part of the curriculum learning too. Glad you liked the photos.
Hi Saskboy, thanks for commenting here and welcome. Well, I guess you can always plan on planting them next year.
AVCr8tuer, Why thank you very much. I’m not quite sure they are magazine worthy but then again I am my own toughest critic.
thanks meditation, I have appreciated all of your comments, they have all been very nice, welcome to commenting on The BenSpark, come back anytime.
Hi Desi, what should I see when I try looking there?
taylorblue,
Well if you do make sure you search amazon through my site (since I was the inspiration) 🙂 just kidding, a little. Glad my photos were inspiring. Thanks for the great comment and stopping by The BenSpark.
Thanks very much Shazad, that was quite the compliment. All photos were definitely from my camera. I only wish I could do 3d like that.
