Going to the movies, even with just Allison and I, is incredibly expensive. Tickets, snacks, sitter, dinner, gas… Yikes. It is so much more economical and comfortable to have a #MovieNight4Less in our own home. When we settle in for a movie night we get comfy on the couch, fire up the widescreen TV and pop up some Orville Redenbacher’s popcorn in the microwave. Only a few years ago did we discover how well M&M’s® compliment a big bowl of popcorn. We had always had both snacks when we went to the movies but never put them together in the same bowl until recently. It was a real, “Where has this been all our lives?” sort of moment.
I went to Walmart to pick up some supplies for our Ultimate Movie Night. There was the display above which had everything I needed for a fun movie night in for Allison and me. From November 11th to 24th there is a selection of Warner Bros. movies available at deeply discounted prices, $5.00 for DVDS and $7.88 for Blu-rays. You can find this display at participating Walmart locations. Here is a list of store that have the Movie Night For Less pallet. I was able to pick up The bucket List, The Blind Side and The Guilt Trip on DVD for $5.00 each plus a six pack of Orville Redenbacher’s and some M&M’s® in movie style boxes. This week we celebrated our 9th Anniversary, so I wanted to kick up our snacking and make something very special for Allison. To make that extra special snack I also got some pretzel sticks, Spanish peanuts and some checkered-rice cereal.
We decided that we wanted to have a funny movie for our Ultimate Movie Night so we chose to watch The Guilt Trip. That inspired the name for our snack, Guilty Pleasure Crunch.
How to make Guilty Pleasure Crunch
Ingredients
1 bag of Orville Redenbacher’s Movie Theater Butter Popcorn
1 box of M&M’s®
3 cups checkered-rice cereal
1 cup Spanish Peanuts
1 cup of Pretzel sticks
2 Tablespoons of Butter, Melted
1 Teaspoon of spices
1 Teaspoon of Brown Sugar
Directions
1. In a large bowl mix the peanuts, rice cereal and pretzel sticks.
2. Melt the Brown Sugar into the Butter and pour over the mixture
3. Add other spices to taste
4. Stir this mixture well
5. Pop Orville Redenbacher’s popcorn and mix in with the other mixture
6. Pour the M&M’s® onto the mixture
7. Enjoy
It was nice to have a cozy evening in to watch a movie. We laughed and munched to our hearts content. No one sat in front of us and we could talk and make our own jokes which is rude in a theater but fine for a home movie night. Finding all of the ingredients for a great movie night for the two of us that cost less than one ticket out to the movies was a great deal. It was a really nice way to spend the night.
You can connect with Orville Redenbacher’s, Warner Borthers Entertainment and M&M’s® on many Social Media sites. A great way for discovering new ideas on your own Ultimate Movie Night.
