After a sweltering day at home, capped off with some heavy rain and thunder, we headed for the Cape. We went down late figuring that the kids (well, at least Andrew) would fall asleep on the ride. He did fall asleep and I figured that we could chance it and stop at Somerset Creamery for an ice cream. He has a problem with milk, it upsets his tummy and he gets Eczema. We are very careful to make sure that he does not have milk. We are also aware that it sucks to be the only kid not having ice cream so we make sure that we have an alternative for him to enjoy. There are good Coconut Milk based ice creams that he can have and enjoy. However, they don’t have that option at most ice cream shops.
So, we pulled in and he work up immediately. I hung in the car with him and he started getting upset so I took him out and walked him around.
Allison and Eva went into the shop and got our ice creams plus an empty cone for Andrew. Usually this distracts him while we can Enjoy ice cream but tonight he wasn’t having any of it. Tonight he wanted ice cream and no empty cone was going to be enough, neither were two strawberries.
What could we do but eat the ice creams fast and distract Andrew till we got back in the car and headed to the Cape house. He was still pretty upset so Eva soothed him by showing him Monsters from Elmo’s Monster Maker app on the iPad. She’s such a good big sister.
Awwww feeling sad for Andrew…as its a big treat to have ice-cream and enjoy with the family….But the 1 point coming in my mind again and again that if Andrew is not able to have ice-cream so why u guys enjoy it in front of him…as u can enjoy it in his absence…….Thats better for him…. Or 1st arrange his coconut milk ice-cream then u guys go out and enjoy……………
