I’ve been thinking a lot about what drives people to do things in their life. Are they motivated by fame, money, fear… What is the incentive for me to get out of bed at 5:00am each morning and drive an hour to work, get in a 20 – 30 minute workout, work an 8 1/2 day and drive another hour home. It is basically a 12 hour day with about 20-30 minutes of productive time for self. I’m really thinking hard about what incentive there is to do that day in and day out.
Maybe it is because I’ve been listening to Tony Robbins’ Ultimate Edge (just the two free intro Mp3s, but I am intrigued) and Zig Ziglar’s Inspire Podcast. Maybe it is because I just got back from a very high energy week with some amazing people or even further maybe it is all my work with Kim Ann Curtin and Lisa Rangel. I’m sure it is a compilation of all of it. Whatever it is I’m thinking very hard about what motivates me, what is my incentive.
The other part of that is this photo from today. That photo is of a Cinderella dress that we bought for Eva. She’ll get it when she masters a certain training that all little kids must master sooner or later. The thing is, we can give her all the incentive and motivation we can muster but ultimately it is going to happen when she decides she wants to make a change in her life. Once she decides that she’s ready then the change will happen, and no amount of goading, pressure, pleading, bribing or cheerleading is going to make it happen before its time. She’s got to decide what her incentive is going to be to make that change.

Thanks Dad
Good luck to you and Eva on your goals.
Thanks Deborah
Like I always say, “If you win the rat race, you’re still a rat.” I still haven’t come down from ASW-lots in the works from that.
Hey Rob,
I’m glad that you got so much from the trip. You looked like you had a ton of fun. Love the motorcycle shot. But where is the hot dog?
