We received a new Playskool Heroes Rescue Bots Optimus Prime figure to play with and review. Opinions as always are 100% my own.
Rescue Bots has been the way for me to first introduce my love for Transformers to my children. when this show came out it was close to when my daughter was starting the first day of school. I bought her an Optimus Prime Rescue Bot as her first Transformer ever. Now Andrew is getting to the age where he can enjoy Transformers Rescue Bots. So, this Optimus Prime is his very first Transformer character of his own.
Andrew is not the most cooperative model when I take photos. He thinks it is a game to get out of frame on me. So this is one of the only shots where he is actually playing with Optimus where I could catch him.
I like the newly reformatted Optimus Prime. He’s not a tractor trailer cab in this incarnation. He is now a Monster Truck. Transformation is super easy. You pull the back of the pickup bed and that flips up the hood to reveal Optimus’ head and then his arms pop to the side. Pushing the truck bed back will pull the arms up and underneath the truck.
I like the look of this Optimus Prime figure. The monster truck fits for this character. He’s still large and the color scheme looks great. I have a picture that I drew as a kid of a monster truck transformer. I never got to see one until I was much, much older. This figure reminded me of that drawing. I will have to find it and post it sometime.
The robot version of Optimus Prime also has a nice look. He’s got the whole color scheme of blue, red, yellow and silver. I love that these are simple to transform but I’d love to see a Masterpiece version of some of the Rescue Bots so that they could move and pose like the show. I think that would be very cool. But, for the time being we will enjoy all the Rescue Bots figures together and are looking forward to seeing if these reformatted versions end up in the show.
