Today was the last day of Eva’s Spring Break Vacation that we could do anything as a whole family. We decided to make a day of it starting with breakfast at bliss Bros. Dairy. We went for a light breakfast and we also packed a lighter fare lunch for our next stop which was the Buttonwood Park Zoo.
We are members of the Capron Park Zoo and because of that we get reciprocal entrance into a few zoos in the area. Buttonwood Park Zoo is one of those. Our plan was to go there and then to Evelyn’s Drive In for dinner but we weren’t at the zoo long enough and everyone wasn’t that hungry so we opted to go home and rest and then go to Eva’s choice, House of Fortune. We actually had to flip a coin to break the tie between Eva and myself.
Each year when we go to the Buttonwood Park Zoo we try and get a photo of the kids on the metal pig by the farm. So far this has happened last year and this year. Both times Andrew has fallen off. this year he slid right off of his own accord. But we try again anyway.
There were a few things that made Andrew really excited at the zoo. One thing was the train, the first time around. He was bouncing up and down shouting “the train!” The second time around he was not as enthused. I believe that the whole time he demanded to go home. The other thing that got him excited was the ruddy ducks. He was practically jumping out of Allison’s arms to go and swim with the ducks. He kept yelling to them, “You swim now adda duck.” at the ducks that were not swimming.
I did take Andrew on the carousel one time. He is not a fan of it like Eva is now or was when she was his age. She’s always loved the carousel. He, not so much. We went on the giraffe because that one does not go up and down. He was much happier on that then one of the other animals that do go up and down.
The carousel was the highlight of day for Eva. She went on it five times and rode on a ton of the different animals. Always worth it to get a book of ride tickets at the Buttonwood Park Zoo.
