I finished my 3D print of Iron Man for my wall last night. IT took 5 hours and two tries to get right but now that it is done I am trying to decide what to do next. Should I just spray paint it a metallic black to make it more of a shadow box type piece of art or do I prime it and paint it iron man’s signature colors istead? Do I add in some LEDs so that parts of it light up? I’m trying to decide exactly what I’d like to do. I think I may look into how I could hide the wires within the print itself in the future to really make the lights work well. To do that, though I’m going to have to learn much more on how to create 3D print files.
My toughest decision, however is where to put this on my walls.
I finished off the red/blue/green filament in the 3D printer today by printing tiny axolotls and fidget devices or Andy. It then changed to the large roll of grey filament. I searched for something to print while I worked. The printer really warms up my office so that is nice in the winter. I found a wall decoration of Iron Man and I was able to scale it up to the full size of my printer’s hotbed. When I started it the first time I saw that it was printing too fast and making mistakes. So I changed some of the parameters and had it print slower and then it printed much better. I captured today’s photo at the midway point of the print. I liked how the print looked about 4 layers into the print as in the image below.
I really like how this came out. It took 5 hours to print.
