We were sent a Digiloom from WowWee for free to play with and review. Opinions are our own.

When I was at Time to Play Sweet Suite 2017 I was talking with the folks from WowWee. They were showing me some high tech toys and games but what really caught my eye was the digiloom. This device had Eva’s name written all over it. She loves doing crafts on her own and I thought that she would enjoy the high tech crafting toy. She has done weaving with various materials before and this looked like the perfect things for here to use to make some bracelets for herself and her friends. I liked the fact that you could create your very own designs with the digiloom. This level of customization is perfect for kids.

I actually set up the digiloom for Eva. This meant that I put batteries in it and connected it wirelessly to her iPad after downloading the app. From there, though, she was on her own. We found the instructional videos and she watched them all before she started her bracelet. She is going to need more practice and to pay more attention the next time she makes a bracelet because her first one came out with unrecognizable words on it. She had fun making it, though.

The bracelet above was actually made by me. I wanted to get a better handle on how this worked so that I could help Eva in the future. I set up the reusable digiband on the loom. I looped on each of the threads to the loom and set up my thread and also choose my design. Then I got started. Each step of the way the digiloom app helps you understand what to do next. The Starter kit includes 8 of these digibands and seven thread colors. There is also a theme that gets unlocked with the starter kit. You can unlock additional themes by buying them in app or by buying theme kits for around $8. The digiloom Starter kit is about $50 and is available at Michaels. You have to concentrate when you work with this device. It is forgiving, though. You can move it back a step at a time and unweave your mistakes. I had to do it a couple of times, but picking up how to use the device came pretty naturally.

This is cerainly a toy for the crafting kid in your house. With the digiloom you can make bracelets, bookmarks and more.
